Happiness
| Oshimi has always taken his stories a step further in ways that makes it far more realistic without it coming off as edgy. Having read mangas that are screwed up simply for the sake of being edgy, I noticed there’s a huge lack of reasoning behind it besides ONLY adding shock value. All of Oshimi’s stories, regardless of how horrifying it gets, has always made sense at the very least. We’re not only getting an illustration of deplorable human beings, but rather their psyche behind it and what led them to such actions and situations. Therefore, the writing won’t ever hold back on punches no matter the character. It’ll go to lengths both naturally and unexpectedly, which I’d much rather take than sugarcoated stories that’s void of writing itself into a corner. Also, was there ever any implications of r*** in this story? I read this pretty recently and I remember the torture scene, but nothing more than that. |
| I did read Happiness. Nothing too brutal stands out to me. I mostly remember it for being blasé and showcasing why vampire teens won't work in the long run. |
