Arknights: Touin Kiro Episode 2 Discussion

Who even let this kid be on command lol?
The incarnation sounds so good. Is this a song from the game or was it made for the anime? The animation and art were really good, but this applies to the rest of the anime as well.

The song that FrostNova sang as her incantation is a song called "Lullabye", an original EP (one of many) produced by the game company. Originally it's sung in Russian, but FrostNova sang a Japanese version of it. I might be misremembering, but I believe it is used in-game for one bossfight (or at least parts of it).

The song is supposed to be a lullaby (duh) that FrostNova would sing to the infected she used to travel with prior to the events of the anime/game. The original song is in Russian because FrostNova (and a good majority of Reunion, for that matter) comes from the Ursus Empire, which is the Arknights world's version of Russia.

good chapter, this is getting good but I just thinking what is the point of doctor then?, he/she has been useless for a long time now, he/she acted to late at the end. These are the kind of emergency that he/she needs to act quickly or think of a plan to escape or something.

he/she doesn't even narrate the story to at least give him/her something to do. I just going to guess that he/she will be important at the end or something.

Spoilers up until the end of chapter 8 of the game (so basically the next 2 seasons?).

Such a shitty adaptation, they haven't played the game and didn't even care to consult anyone who did. In Ep1 they massively failed Chen as a character -- her job is upholding the law, she IS the order, and actually disobeying orders is a huge twist in her character development, instead they threw it right here for cheap drama. Same in Ep2 with the Mephisto's bossfight song, they took such a great song and shoved it into the first Frostnova encounter which is so far from the climax of this story arc. In the game, it is used to signal the end of the Reunion and all hope for Infected as you're killing the last of Talulah's minions right before fighting her -- lullaby is heard in the last moments before this dream is coming to an end. I don't have a problem with rearranging the music tracks (you wouldn't know the song if you haven't played the game and it's totally ok) but it's used so poorly, like this is the last season we ever get (probably is), so why not throw it in here.

I like that they try to show characters and foreshadow things, but they do that in the worst way possible. Here's Patriot! He cares for Yelena! He speaks funny! The script is so blunt I can't help but cringe.

So far Arknights is getting the Tokyo Ghoul treatment -- change a few details for additional drama but never realize what they meant to the plot and the characters. Fantastic production and polish can't carry the shitty direction and narration. The game didn't have the best script (every chapter was written as the last chapter before the game possibly shutdown), but it was at least salvageable for the anime adaptation; the adaptation missed a lot of the good parts and replaced it with some placeholder transitions which don't make sense. Doctor is a field commander here and can't just go up to Frostnova and say hi with two scouts, a worst 4* melee and a donkey after a leusire sightseeing trip in the city ruins. Again, I'm fine with the character changes but it doesn't make sense anymore to bring this Doctor into action, let him watch cartoons in the hospital or something.

And seriously, Dokutah, where's your borrowed Exusiai S2 for Frostnova fight?

The character art and design are seriously impressive! They are damn near God-tier! Enough to make me look up the studio.... Yostar? Aren't they a gaming company (Azur Lane, Arknights)?

I tried to see if I could find another show made by them, but I've already seen Azur Lane and if I didn't know that it was made by the same studio, I couldn't tell because it doesn't look nearly as good.

@H8drian They are a studio that is generally around to animate preview trailers and shorts for the games they publish, otherwise mostly taking on a few small assist studio jobs like with Oshi no Ko. Arknights has 30 second animated story previews for each event done by them, as well as bigger and 3d animations for special events and new main story releases.

@xBLEVx I believe that 3D animations are done by Hypergryph themselves or gravity well iirc.
