| It's been a while since I watched this and this is probably what gets brought up most in reviews, so I was curious what general opinions are. Personally I liked the romance, considering it takes place in a different time and the age is different in the novel I didn't think too much about it. I also didn't feel he was involved much with her early on with her developments, other than being an unrequited or silly crush for most of the show. And I felt towards the end that although he was more experienced than her that they were both mutually learning from one another and growing together. I'm not trying to make arguments, I just wanted to know different opinions on it. |

| I'd have to watch it again, because the first time all I could think about was that he was grooming her. But the guy seemed loving and kind, and the story never points out he's interested in her romantically until she's older so I don't know. Is my negative, adult mind corrupting the story to make it into something it never was? Something horrible? I just wish they didn't turn her 13 instead of the original 18 year old she was in the novel. I do like that they do learn and grow from each other, even though he's the more experienced one like you mentioned. Again, I'd like to think he didn't see her in a romantic way when she was that young and it was only her having a crush on an older man, and nothing more. He was super charming not only to her, but to everyone. I'm just coping here since I find the story to be genuinely cute. |
