I just wanted to post this since I still keep seeing people mention in reviews and posts all over the internet that this show wouldn't have existed without the "april fool's" video.

First of all, they've already been doing official sunshine in the mirror illustrations way before the release of that video that they would release in issues of their LL Days magazine, and would even start a manga series just around the video was uploaded and would release new chapters every month.

They most likely have already been planning to do this show for a long time and used april fools as a way to advertise it, especially knowing they've already done something like this in the past (with cyazalea kiss and even the yohane game earlier this year).

Not that it matters or anything, I just wanted to let everyone know lol.

From my understanding, it's not that 'Genjitsu no Yohane' was the April Fools joke but the anime of itself. Most Love Live fans know that there's a lot of materials released for Genjitsu no Yohane before the anime started, however, as it is a spin-off of an idol franchise, nobody had expected that an anime of the said spin-off to take off. Another April Fools joke was the Genjitsu no Yohane game that is set to be release this November. Nobody expected that to be real but a lot of people did wished it to be real, then it did.

CYaZALEA Kiss did not took off after that April Fools video just so you know. Neither did Liella!'s Ren wanting to become the greatest jam maker. The one where Aqours fight off an alien force with Cotton Candy Ei Ei Oh!'s art style didn't went off after the day was over, and also when Nijigaku members became cats got killed off despite their nine lives. A lot of the April Fools materials didn't get realised after April Fools (that's why they're April Fools jokes to begin with) so knowing they exist outside of a joke is good for consumers like us. Additionally, a new Setsuna Yuuki spin-off was announced and realised right after them saying it's just a joke for April Fools. It's amazing how unpredictable they are on realizing an IP so I'm happy on what we got today.

You're probably right when you said "They most likely have already been planning to do this show for a long time" but we don't have proof of that but I'm glad they did release the show as it is a good refresher from the drama of the anime especially Aqours.
