So, I’ve fully completed the mangas that are out so far for blue period, and to be honest, what happened to the main focus of blue period?
Yeah I get that the author had a Vision and this is probably what they wanted for the series. I just feel like it went down the wrong path. Like at the start we had amazing traditional art and characters. Then all of a sudden we have like barley any art? It’s mostly just character interactions. I just don’t understand what’s happening. Like yatora’s art just kinda sucks. All the art in blue period just vanished.
And when there is actual ‘art’ it’s not even art. It’s like just a water bottle on a chair or something. (This didn’t actually happen).

So in short, what happened to blue period? Why did it go down such a weird path from when it started?

Probably should be in a manga thread …

You may get more comments here, but they probably will not have read the manga

I feel like Blue Period has always focused on characters more than the art and their psychological journey has always been highlighted and related back to their art.

Currently, I do agree that the author is deviating away a lot from the art part but I do think it’s coming soon once Yatora grows a bit and has a different approach towards his next piece.

Half the struggle is finding inspiration, my friend. And in an academic setting, there are a lot of factors working against you. I find Yatora’s struggle to find his own style and to learn from others’ struggles compelling. Yatora’s art doesn’t suck but maybe the voices of academia which have very preconceived notions about what art should be thinks it does.

As an art student I dont see any issue at all, it's faithfully going through what it's like to be an artist. I'd say it's more correct to say BP is about being an artist and that journey than about the actual art itself.

When you create things especially in a university setting like BP has there's a LOT of experimentation, they push you to try all sorts of things because art isn's this rigid paint on paper type of thing, it has an exceptional amount of personal and emotional depth to it, which the manga is exploring through it's characters. And like what happens in the manga with Yatora sometimes you don't draw or create stuff because an art curriculum is incredibly stressful and emotional, being an artist is hard and that journey is an incredibly personal one where you cant just churn out paintings on a whim.

No marks was a really interesting arc, we got to see people outside of a formal place of education practice art, going against the grain and doing something different which some of the tutors seemed to frown upon. It ultimately helped Yatora grow as a person and artist though with the main lady, I forget her name being a very scary figure I think we was primed to take Yatora in a direction he probably didn't want to go. I feel like a lot of the point with that is to show other peoples perspectives with art with different living situations and outlooks on what art is, it's done this constantly throughout the manga. The whole kindergarten art arc did this too focusing on how children interact with art.

It's a series thats very true to life and about art and being an artist to it's core, if you don't see that and I don't meant to offend then i think you might be missing the point of Blue Period or have a very naïve view of what art is and everything that goes behind being a creative.

I doubt BP will change or "go back" to how it was as it's an ever evolving story of an artist and their creative journey.
