Yeah, say what you want, but I really do hate this trope a whole fucking lot. Boku no Kokoro is a story which is good solely because of Ichikawa, while the heroine is there because the author wants to draw her in shorts.

This is making it seem like I hate Boku no Kokoro lmao, but no, I just think it’s not nearly as good as some people were trying to make it seem at the time it got some insane boon in ratings for some reason I still can’t comprehend.

Either way, in Suki Nako, Mie is surprisingly a pretty fleshed out character, while Komura has a pretty satisfying arc of self-love that is basically the core theme of his character.

They’re both just normal kids. This is what makes the story infinitely better than Boku no Kokoro. The good points of Suki Nako are WAY better than the good points of Boku no Kokoro. Production is also way better.

That said, sadly, Komura’s first impression will surely drive a lot of people away. While I appreciate how well written he is, that doesn’t change the fact his first impression still is the supremely shy annoying virgin that we’re all used to in anime.

So basically, while I think this anime DESERVES better and that the grade will surely grow, I don’t think it will reach something like an 8 or whatever.

I think it will probably end as a 7.5 or something.
