What's the actual purpose of the Prétear and Knights?

il check last few ep and tell u i watched it to i forgot. And that pfp my dear brother lool i watched that half yea ago, damn i was so sad thay blonde guy die, it was such a dump death but it happened at worst time just when everything was going. well. Great series.

Looking into some answer for you for part of your questions. There was an implication of another former Princess of Disaster before Takako let her emotions get the better of her. That is why the knights appeared to Takako to present her with the honor of becoming a Pretear. The only catch was that if she were to lose herself to her emotions, she would become the Princess of Disaster.

Here is to your second question which I do hope helps.

The Leafe knights come from Leafenia. Which I believe is connected to the Earth? But anyway, it’s their job to protect LEAFE the source of life for both worlds.

It's like a chain of Prétears becoming Princess of Disaster until Himeno comes along then? That's interesting.
