0 comments on most chapter discussion threads, 0 reviews, very little discussion at least in English from what I can find online in general

Surprised after Beastars this comes out and I just kinda hear nothing, I'm not even seeing negativity just seeing nothing overall

of the small readerbase that does exist, what is this manga even about? synopsis didn't seem to explain anything aside from what I'm assuming happens at the very start and it doesn't have any explanation as to why this manga is about Santa

I found out about this manga's existence just yesterday because I literally rolled Sanda on Mudae (a game on Discord) and recognized the art style and wanted to check it out. I think the lack of discussion comes from the fact that in English we only have barely three volumes translated, while in Japanese it reaches like eight if I'm correct, so we're a lot behind compared to them.

Personally, I read all the 20 chapters available yesterday and I like the story, the setting, I like the concept and all, but yk, so far nothing extremely extraordinary has happened. Nothing peculiar about it makes me wanna talk about it with other people, so maybe because we're still so early in the story nobody actually has anything to say about it.

The manga is about this guy, Sanda (I saw that here he's called Mita but that's just a different way to read the Kanji 三田), who's a descendant of Santa Claus and wants to protect kids and make their wishes come true. He's actually a 14 y/o kid, but is able to transform into Santa Claus once he wears something red, and can go back to his regular kid form once he eats Pachikko (?) gummies.

The story is set in the year 2080, where Christmas is a long forgotten tradition and kids don't believe in Santa anymore. The kids go to boarding schools and thanks to the vaccines they take, they don't need to sleep anymore, which is something that's prohibited by the school's principal because 1) sleeping make you develop your body and mind faster, and also age, and 2) by sleeping you'll develop secondary sex characteristics. So the kids don't sleep, they just lay in bed, because that's what they've been taught.

For some reason, there's an organization that wants to kill Santa Claus and I guess that's because Santa Claus gives kids hope and happiness, which is something they can't get in that world. Everything is already decided by the government at birth, even who you're gonna marry. So I guess it's a form of control, they don't want Santa to be back because that would mess up their scheme.

I think there isn't any big discussion about it yet because most people don't know this manga exists, I myself had no idea Paru made a new manga until yesterday when I randomly stumbled on someone saying to pick it up for a christmas read

As of right now it only has a little over 700 registered users with this manga on their list, compare that to the almost 50K of her previous work, Beastars

people just don't know about it plus there isn't a scanlator that's translating it, but it's a masterpiece , the worldbuilding is insane and the characters are very really nice and lovely
