I think for someone like me who prefers anime and doesn't have much time, there seems to be much less need to even start any recent popular and critically acclaimed manga nowadays, because such works get adapted almost immediately compared to how it was. One moment I add a manga to my PtR, the next one I find out there is anime on its way.
Of course, such stance is massively conditional on the adaptation quiality (Hoshi no Samidare, I'm looking at you).
