Note only in terms of production it is well made, but the plot is also fantastic. The direction work is also on point. It's always surprising seeing an isekai that actually does something different. It might just be on my top 5 isekai, along with Grimgar and others.

I've been saying since like ep4: SLEEPER HIT OF THE SEASON.

Started off as random episodic BS but I stayed for our tsundere knight, only for shit to go 0-100 real quick. All the characters are great as well, especially our MC. He's the complete opposite of the normal dense but OP MC - he's weak and lacking in many areas, but brings so many other positives to the table, and tries his hardest. I'll keep cheering for the half-Madareca hero.

This should be way higher rated, the story and the characters are actually good im guessing a lot of people dropped it early on which is a shame.

I'm not sure if "underrated" is the best term. I'd say it is a dark horse. I don't think it had a massive vocal fanbase and it didn't look like much from the trailers or even first few episodes. It has come together really well over the season. It is mostly a comedy but there are many heart-rending and heart warming moments.

This is definitely my most underrated of the season. The production quality is insane for a show in this style. The character depth actually feels genuine and not forced, and the worldbuilding they’re doing is also excellent in my opinion

What kept me from dropping this were the characters. They’re just so interesting! The story is based on the characters and the trials they go through rather than what the world or the plot throws at them.

The mix between action and comedy is so well done, but the story is so interesting as well. It’s honestly isekai done right. It’s not a power fantasy, it’s not shoveling millions of info down the audience’s throats, and (most important of all) it doesn’t try to copy every other isekai with the MC being the center of the show. The MC is really Morlock and we our essentially uncovering the mystery of how he lost his memories and who was responsible for it in the first place. This may be really unlikely, but I hope there is a season two someday.

The first few episodes very kinda hard to get into.. But at like E4-5 i started loving the show. So many funny and emotional moments, this anime totally surprised me. Especially the sidestories are soooo good. Really underrated for sure.

He's not useless at all if you have seen at least 1 episode which you didn't.

I agree with all of you, guys! Saito-san and Legends of Heroes are two most underrated series in this season for me. I also hope that they will announce season 2 of Saito-san after the last episode! ED here is so cozy and inspiring at the same time! I like it so much! For me it is THE BEST FANTASY SERIES among the many that I have watched before. They do amazing job when adapted into anime! Compare the source manga and anime, they even improve the art style overall! It is amazing job, I respect all the creators of this great series and really hope for the second season!

It was confusing at the start because it looked like compilation of a bunch of unrelated stories and characters in a fantasy setting, but it all tied together and became a great experience.
Chill atmosphere and humor. Loving it.

Most?? Of the ones they predetermined to be worthy of a dub perhaps. But for the most underrated it would surely have to be one of the shows they felt not popular enough to dub initially, but choose to dub after the fact. I like the show but i think "Campfire Cooking in Another world" will surely take that title

I really liked early episodes. Character designs are beautiful, animation is great... But when ninja appeared everything became kinda meh. First episodes were like 9/10 for me but after watching 11 episodes I can only give this show 5 or 6.

The series has some good thing in it. But the directing and production is pretty meh. (Or perhaps it's just low budget and we are getting the best we could get.) The pacing is subpar. Dragged out in places that don't suit the telling of the story. None of the intended comedy is actually funny -- the skits are just mildly interesting. And the dragged pace doesn't help delivering them.

It's a decent show.

When you say it's underrated, well it's not. If we talking MAL rating, it has one of the better ratings for a low budget show.

I agree! Especially the OP and the ED songs! They are amazing! Also you are right, they have done brilliant job in anime adaptation overall! I wish for a season 2 soon!

Dunno about if it's an underrated or not, since I don't have data showing how its sales go in Japan, but I must agree that this show is unusual and have many great things.
It started nicely, for 4 episodes it showed short, various scenes, like some short "strips". It reminded me of "Nichijou". But then it started to show arcs. In the end it returned to short "strips" again. Honestly I would prefer that whole show was made of short "strips", but alas.
It incorporates many new things, which I don't remember in other anime. For example, it's often mentioned about teleport magic that there is a danger that you can teleport inside of wall or mountain, and this anime indeed shows this hilarious moment:

Another interesting thing is magic staff charging. Usually this charging in anime showed as magic staff glowing, but it in this anime we can see how rainbow magic starts growing on it, which I don't remember in any other anime (10% charged, 30%, 60%, 90%, 100% Fire!!):

Other interesting ideas:

  • Dwarf who wields double shields. This idea sometimes appear on game forums when players want new class. And this idea finally was incorporated in this anime with dwarf wielding two shields and uses magic with himself as epicenter to blow up enemies in melee range, like Sunfire from "Baldur's Gate 2". Nice!
  • MC buying assassin needles to cook meat of hydra was quite new - you use weapon for peaceful purpose.
  • Lilyza using giant axe as a circular saw was great.
  • Time Stop spell. Oh God, how it was amazing! This spell I have seen in "Baldur's Gate 2" and loved it. But here it is in anime too. It was great to see how indeed everything froze and only Morlock could move. Nice!

Since it's a comedy anime, I liked  some scenes very much too. Looks like monsters in labyrinth like yuri too:

All this "maderaka" length measuring system based on length of penis:

Morlock's transformations into skeleton, beastman, young age were interesting too.
But despite all these jokes, this anime is quite explicit in showing some disturbing scenes too. Like during fight with Iron Golem, when it squeezed Saitou - blood and sticking out ribs. Raelza's burned hand. Torn off limbs. Etc.
Also another great thing that they avoid using English terms for name of spells, chanting, and similar. Through all series I think I heard it only once - Blood Sword. In all other cases it's all in Japanese. There are even some cases when character starts saying English word, then stops in middle and says Japanese analog. This is sooo great.

In over-all I find this work as quite good, at least just because it incorporates some new things, about which I heard but never have seen in other anime, so watching it was quite good and "educational".
