Does anyone else see Jun as a deeply tragic character so far? Both he and Tomo are going through similar processes of sorting out their feelings, but Jun has Gundo actively interfering (usually negatively), Carol passively interfering (by being Carol, third wheeling because she needs friendship, going over his house to get back at Misaki, kissing him), and absolutely no one in his life to help him figure out his feelings. The best he gets is Gundo saying something passive aggressive or cryptic and he's left to figure things out on his own again.

I can't help but feel that things will not end up well for him.

To tell you the truth I feel for him because he acts like me when I was a teen, hiding my feeling from people because it would be akward
I was fairly smart back then and could read ahead in conversations so I was always cautious, but things slipped here and there but my ego was there to block it.
The path he is walking is self destructive, just imagine if tomo wasn't into him that would make this anime end in episode 3 or so...

I have a lot more on the topic, would love to chat more if you guys are up for discord or social media

I completely agree! It’s really sad that outside of Tomo he doesn’t really seem to have any friends of his own that he can confide in. I think you could argue that Gundo and Carol are sort of his friends too in a way, but it’s not like he can talk to them about Tomo. I really think they should have given him his own friend, someone who is for him like Gundo is for Tomo. But I also understand that he’s not the main character so it was probably overlooked in the writing process. I feel so bad for him though :,)

I agree as well, Jun feels trapped by how he felt before and how he wants to feel now about Tomo. It's actually much deeper than surface level with a lot of this show.

I get the impression he’s stuck in the past and has low self esteem. He strikes me as deeply insecure and just stuck in his own head. Something has been bothering him for the longest time and I think he needs to confront his issues properly.
But he’s still young and doesn’t fully understand his own feelings yet. Having someone else he can confide in is something he might really need.

Also he needs to be dim to help carry the story along. (Don’t mean to say it in a harsh way)

His fear over changing the relationship with Tomo makes so much sense because if he confesses and rejects him, he loses his only friend and has no one else. Tomo, on the other hand, will have Gundo and Carol to help her through it. The stakes are so high for Jun, no wonder he's terrified.
