I've been wondering about this the moment they've revealed her powers. It's been established now that she travel between worlds. Teleport far distances even, no sweat.

So why isn't she declared dead ever since she fell off the cliff?

She still lives in her family's house like she normally would—when I expected it to be sold or in the middle of a renovation already, the moment she first got back. And you'd think her neighbor would be shocked as if they've seen a ghost when she stepped out of that house.

While I do like the unique take on the Isekai genre, with the story setting not being limited to one world. (kinda like GATE which is another series I love. But instead of armies passing back and forth, she's almost like a genderbent John Wick with teleportation lmao.) I just wondered how her supposed 'death' should've been more recognized in her real world.

I know we're barely 2 episodes in the series and I don't want to assume anything, not knowing there's probably a well-thought out explanation for it later on. But for those who've read the source material, I don't mind a bit of spoilers, cause I am enjoying the series so far.

They never found a body in the sea and no one recognized her when she fell off.
Those guys who pushed her are still under investigation for murder, but she already forgot about them. No further explanations in the manga.

Assuming, that those two guys who literally saw her falling reported that, no body was found for obvious reasons, so their hypothetical report was written off as false.
She was never declared dead.

alrite, there's 127 million people living in japan by 2017( which the timeline of the anime/manga/LN), there's around 100,000 people reportedly missing each year
That is the "reported" one, how many do you think that went unreported because no one confirmed your "existence"
when mitsuha fell from the cliff no one able to reported her identity and there's no body found, so no one can proof the crime happened or the victim exist
supposedly you got assaulted on way home on random street and there's eye witness, but you went straight back home and didn't report the incident because you don't care
the eye witness did but since the authority cannot find you or confirm the identity of the victim, there's no case or charged filed.

so yeah, she's not death and she didn't file any report so there's no crime commited technicaly
