Was really frustrated with this last episode, i felt like this season was building up to a confession all for sakurai to blueball us by chickening out at the last second, what is the logical reason he didnt confess? He knows she likes him and he clearly likes her and even promises to do it the right way, all alone on the first of the year watching the sun rise could not of been a more perfect moment but instead that goofy cat pops up and the season ends, really terrible way to end the season in my opinion. Didnt ruin the entire season for me because there was still a lot i enjoyed but i was just wanting to see if anyone else felt the same and if not could explain to me why it would make sense for him to drag this out further thank you hoping for a kind discussion

I was hoping for the season to get better on the last episode (at least), because of the spoiler on the first episode. But no, I just kept waiting.

'dragging it out' is what mangaka, light novelists, and other screenwriters and book authors do. it is called the 'will they or won't they? curse'. as soon as 'that' happens in alot and i do mean a LOT of media/entertainment... the anticipation and excitement for the cliffhangers, and the near misses, and possible reveals, and possible confessions, and everything... yes EVERYTHING... character progression related gets ruined in many MANY media. as soon as 'that' happens? basically, every. single. franchise. is a ticking TIMEBOMB OF SELF-DESTRUCTION! American TV and movies do it, the Japanese do it, alot of entertainment world-wide does it. without that 'spark' of 'doubt'... the story just falls flat on its face and fails.

so, to avoid the 'will they or won't they? curse'... many authors take YEARS even DECADES till their characters 'hook up'. and don't even get me started on 'the shippers'. give a guy or girl character two or more choices in possible, probable, even highly improbable and even IMPOSSIBLE romantic finale results... and SOMEBODY out there will be 'rooting for the other girl(s)/guy(s)'.

just think about the anime romcom tropes. in TWO SEASONS, Hana hasn't even had a ROMANTIC RIVAL YET! just a few 'imaginary off-camera girls' that Itsuhito mentions to Hana in order to egg her on about Shinichi talking to a few females on campus. and on Shinichi's end, most guys see him hanging with Hana and AUTOMATICALLY think... 'those two are doin it, they're sexin it up, ah well avoid hitting on her.' and perhaps the girls on campus kinda sorta see the same thing? so, if in a supposed S3 one of THOSE shows up? or even TWO of them, one guy lookin at Hana and one girl angling for Shinichi! the author hasn't even tossed a rival into the equation of ShinHana. so THAT would 'drag it out' even more!

there is another trope that has been explored in Uzaki-chan but has NOT been completed yet! in two seasons! home visits by the couple... Shin has been with Hana's family... inside their home... even had a Christmas Meal with them! but... what about Hana meeting Mr. and Mrs. Sakurai and their lil daughter? that would be something that could 'drag it out' also!

so, if a S3 happens... i would NOT expect a full conclusion to happen.
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

You're only half correct because

So yes, dragging it out is correct but it's not the source material who did it. In comparison to similar manga Uzaki is actually pretty fast paced. It was the unnecessary promotion episode that funded and somehow also killed the anime.

Yeah that very last scene with them looking at sunrise was actually anime original. In manga the chapter ended when they were making wishes at the shrine. Hopefully they'll release OVA or something to cover it since it's just a few chapters after that.

By the time they even got to the shrine there were <6 minutes left, so I knew he would not do the needful.
Was already pissed off. Gesh even the other characters in the show are frustrated. There is utterly no point to watching the 3rd season. It will have another 13 episodes- you think they'll confess by episode 3? NOPE. It will drag on with more annoying humor and celibacy for another 12 episodes. Just skip it and watch the last episode, all the rest will be filler, the humor has run its course and whichever new characters get thrown in will just be annoying as hell anyway. Now I understand why their population is declining.

I'm mostly annoyed that they replaced a lot of comedy with romance only to achieve almost nothing in the end. Made this season feel very lackluster in comparison to season 1.
