The second season will start airing in less than a month so let's speculate about which cases will be animated.
Post Steel Lady Nanase cases:
Several stand-alone chapters (some of them lead to proper cases)
    Electroshock Pinocchio
    Guillotine Sanshiro
    Sleeping Murder
    The already confirmed Yuki-onna case
    Kotoko/Rikka buddy case

And there's also the possibility that the staff will create some original scenarios for the TV anime.
As for the case from volumes 15 and 16, that one is too recent and way too long for this season so there's way it will be in it.

With all the above said, what cases do you guys think/wish will be included in the new season?

Maybe until volume 13? Whereas the previous season they adapted the manga up to volume 6 and the Yuki-onna case is included in volume 13.

Sure, but adapting all those cases in a 12 episodes run is impossible so not everything is going make it in it.
I say that the newest season will open with an anime original episode or one of the stand-alone cases and then move on to adapt the Pinocchio case, the Sleeping Murder case and then finally culminate with the Yuki-onna case.

The opening confirmed the presence of the Pinocchio case, Sleeping Murder case and that one short case about Rikka helping her new neighbors.

I kind of dig this choice.
I guess the Sleeping Murder case will be the final one for this season.

Yuki-onna case closed, let's see if the remaining cases will play in the chronological order shown in the opening or if they will shuffle things again.

I'm guessing Pinocchio will be three episodes long and Sleeping Murder will be four episodes long.
But wait, there's also the (unlikely) possibility that Sleeping Murder will be also be three episodes long and the ninth episode will animate chapter 24 of the comic as the intro for the following case.

Episode 6 is called Lightning Pinocchio
Idk if it's going to be a single ep or not.

Did the upcoming episode's title leak somewhere?
The Pinocchio case is going to covered in multiple episodes because there's no absolutely no chance it can be adapted in just one single episode.

it's fine, I was just curious myself thinking, man this new season ain't showing the preview for next ep like last season did, so I just thought to look into it more and found it.

Well, it turns out that episode 6 adapted almost half of the case (the whole chapter 17 plus a few pages from the following chapter) so I wouldn't be shocked if the anime staff somehow managed to conclude the case in the next episode.
That said, I think a three episode run for Pinocchio would be much better.

Yep the Pinocchio case ended with episode 7, so it only lasted two.

Episode 7 handled the second half of the case pretty neatly so I take back what I said at the end of my previous post.
Now we just have wait until the next episode's preview will be updated to see what will story will be used to fill up the space between Pinocchio and Sleeping Murder.

It's either that chapter or the chapter following Pinocchio.
I'd say the chapter where the two guys  in the cafe are talking about Kotoko's high school days  is most likely to be adapted for a a multitude of reasons.

Whew, talk about unpredictable.
A five episodes run for Sleeping Murder doesn't sound farfetched anymore.

I don't know, I think that positioning a short case at the very end of the season would be an even stranger directorial choice.
I'm sensing that the intention here is to culminate this second season with Sleeping Murder and then to use the latter part of the final episode plus credits to wrap things up with a little epilogue featuring Kotoko and Kuro talking about their current relationship, their future together and whatnot (read it as Rikka), just like in the the first season.
Well, I wrote that but maybe it will turn out just like you said, with the last episode being a short and sweet case, maybe an anime original one like the very first episode of this season.

And so the Sleeping Murder case ends with a total runtime of four episodes.
What do you think it's going to be the final episode? An anime original story or a casual one-off case?

Final preview is up: the last episode is going to adapt the unagi restaurant oneshot case (volume 7, chapter 16).
