Mairimashita! Iruma-kun got a fluffy MC and a colorful cast of characters (that actually has screen time and are developed). It even got a budget boost this season! Don't even get me started on best girl Amelie. What's holding this show back?

Honestly, it's a good thing a lot of people dont watch this show. Atleast it's gonna cut the number of hate threads in the forum

Same here. The dub just makes it so much better. Gonna be really hard to watch without Billy Kametz with us anymore though. I can't imagine anyone else bringing that amount of passion to Asmodeus.

Because Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is basically My Hero Academia with more slice of life/school life and less battle shounen elements. I see this as a very positive thing, but normies would hard disagree.

P.S. Amelie is a great girl, but Clara is one of the very best bakadere ever (probably second only to Kurata Sana)

This is unironically one of the best Isekai anime out there.

People see the art and write it off as a another kids show is my guess.

this is just my opinion, but i mean if you see this anime at first glance it seems like a kids show, something you might find in disney back in the day. At least that was what it seemed to me. But then i watched it and got hooked and realized that this wasnt the case. Also this is the 3rd season, most people will prefer to watch something new. Lastly i really dont care if an anime is popular or not, i just care thats it is popular enough so they can keep animating seasons.

definitely believe marketing imagery does the series a disservice not some mindless dumb kids anime, and the threaded 3rd 4th season syndrome for newbies throw them off committing to watching earlier seasons to catch up. All said and done big fan of this anime, it has great character development for MC /friends/ classmates/ family etc
Maybe a bit controversial :
In its 2 seasons than say "my hero academic " established for even up to season 6

I think it's because people find the characters cringe and they are not like the characters from popular Anime, art style looks cartoonish, less plot heavy, etc. Honestly, I find that the characters are the best part of the show.
When I first watched it, I also thought the art style looked cartoonish.

I even liked MHA until the first half of S3, but it was never better than Iruma-kun.

Ngl, I'm one of those shounen viewers. An overwhelming majority of the shows I have watched so far are action packed shounen animes. And when I first found out about this anime a couple years ago, I brushed it aside because it lacks action, like the majority of shounen watchers would probably do.
I just picked it up about 2 weeks ago, watched all the way up to date, and I'm loving it. Usually I cringe at the comedy in the slice of life type shows, but I've been really enjoying this show so far. I'm glad that MAL agrees that this show is goated, because NGL I only actually tried it out after seeing the high rating.

It's still pretty successful.

I used to wonder why it wasn't more popular and I just thought that maybe the average viewer would be turned off by the aesthetic and the antics of characters, as well as the really colorful characters with like all the guys having colored nails and maybe Iruma seems kind of feminine to people I guess. At least hes very different from your average male protagonist.

But I could totally be wrong, that might not really be the reason. I love it exactly because of the aesthetic and the off the walls characters, and the setting is just done perfectly imo. And it is such a wholesome show and I adore Iruma so much.

Really wish it was more popular though, but it looked to me like animation improved a bit this season so it's still getting plenty of love.

it was popular in south east asia, China, and japan though. Mal was full of teenage muricans that likes edgelord stuff thats why you didn't see many fans in this site very often

i'm honestly surprised it's as popular as it is.

don't get me wrong, it's colorful and fun, which are elements i appreciate, but it doesn't really hit the major appeal spots for most western anime fans, it doesn't pretend to be mature, it has some battle shounen tropes but isn't dominated by those, it isn't about cute girls doing cute things (mostly) and it isn't about sexual fan service.

It hits all of the "make me love a thing" buttons so artfully it's not even funny how perfectly it fits my tastes.

Barely managed to finish season 1 due how slog the school festival was. Watched the first episode of season 2 and found the new character even more annoying than the main cast and I was like "no thank you".

Not a fan of how Iruma gets his achievements on mere "luck" and everyone in the Demon School thinks he's almost Jesus.

It should definitely be more popular in the west. But as long as it’s popular enough in Japan to keep making new seasons shiiiitttt, I won’t complain. It’s my number one comfort show fr

Edit: I'm in season 1 actually.

Just caught on to this brilliant and hilarious show. Its absurd how dotted with detail the world and the characters are. So far they managed to make every character I meet matter on some level. There is a wide variety of characterization in place and the pacing of gags to plot progression is so expertly done. That aside I love Clara's craziness (and cuteness) and Amelie wow what's not to love! The voice actor for Amelie (Hayami Saori) is fantastic and always makes her characters so fun to watch! I can't recommend this show enough, it is such a fun watch!
