So if your like me and feel overwhelmed from all the hate this series gets when you yourself love it with all you heart and can relate to the characters you find yourself wanting to connect with others that share more positive views and I came across a youtube video the other day that did a wonderful job in showing the beautiful traits of the anime in a way never done before so just wanted to share that video and spark a discussion about why we love rental girlfriend and how we relate to it

some people are gonna hate and some are gonna love. even the top rated ones get the hate. it's just how diverse people are. just watch what you feel like. i really like the show tbh also I don't care about the hate people give the show.

Holy shit. This was an awful critique. You know how bad it is when he needs to end the video like "re-watch, but ignore everything that is bad".
Yes, if you ignore everything that is bad, you will enjoy or appreciate EVERY shows, but when people talks about how bad this is, it is important to talk about EVERY aspects.

And other interesting point, the other day same clever guy said that Kazuya acts on impulses, while in this video the creator said he doesn't. It's just interesting how people uses everything even contradicting each other, just to try to prove something and can't accept that they like something that is bad.

You completely missed the point of the video, I got it and I didn’t even watch the entire thing. The video isn’t supposed to be a critique, the guy literally states that he just wants to highlight why that collective “we” can enjoy the show.

I can tell you why people like it, because in my country similar things happen(ed) but with reality and talk shows. We stole the remotely creative shows from west and re-create them without any creativity. We make it so trashy that people become stupider if they watch it and people loves it. We have many memes from these shows. You can make trashy things that will become loved by others.
It was never a question how human nature works. The question always was why people tries to sell it as a good show and/or how.
You won't understand it, but here's a short video one of the most watched talk show. I looked up the viewing stats about it and on average 40% of every tv viewer watched it. It had more than 1200 eps:

The show is far from a masterpiece (it is decent for a romcom), but haters can be an obnoxious bunch especially when they put down the fans for liking a show.

The cringe definitely does make it super unbearable for the most part... I just stopped watching an episode (the one where the main character stalks the female lead for a whole day and she fucking rewards him with a present for it) halfway through and had pick it up a week later because of how stupid it was. I started watching this series thinking that the main character was an absolute clown with a huge potential to improve. Sadly, I realized that I was mistaken when I caught up with the manga. He doesn't improve whatsoever. Still enjoyable trash though.

Well at least kazuya can't get worse right?

RAG's theme is more about the drama rather than the romance, although the latter is still a significant aspect of the story. The characters' awkwardness and untimely interactions creates inconveniences and conflicts that stress the audience out. The characters are meant to be a parody of social norms and etiquette.

I read the manga and also watch the anime. And I love it's animation. The story is not that bad. And yeah it's also funny sometimes. I enjoy the show but not really much. Honestly I love Chizuru.As a manga reader I've been reading this story for a long time. Maybe that's why I've been attached to Chizuru. And it's hard to hate a story you've been reading for a long time. And once I start something I want to continue it till the end. That's the reason maybe I just can't drop it.

this shows character design and background art is beautiful but the animation quality it's self falls and rises very unpredictably even during a single episode

and the music other than the openings and endings which are sick the music during the episodes can be quite repetitive and bland

but the characters ( in season 1 and up to ep10 of season 2) have been consistently great for conflict ( which is the driving force behind any story )

and the voice acting are fantastic in both English and Japanese which are the versions I have watched

kazuya is a guy who you want to desperately see get better but keeps letting himself fall and chizuru is a girl who wants to fulfil a dream she thinks is childish and selfish but still keeps pushing for despite that
