The last two are funny, while the first two are interesting. 6/10.

Frankenstein was decent.
I never read a novel of Frankenstein and never watched the original, so I only have a basic idea of it's story from school after all these years, so I don't truly know what the full original story or many iterations are about, but, Junji Itou's was intriguing.

A well done story of Victor's tragic life of creating a monster, having his family and friends killed by it while Frankenstein the monster craves for affection against the reality of being feared by anyone.

Overall, this whole collection of 16 volumes with two other manga with the same chapters was awesome.
I believe it easily deserves a 7/10. Although it maybe arguably could be an 8/10.

Most stories are somewhat simple yet amazing, but the fact that they're inconclusive is mainly why none of the chapters or very few feel like an 8/10 to my standards, but a fair amount are very good, and none are bad.

I first watched Tomie after learning of Junji Itou and only recently finally started reading it years later.
As fun as Tomie was, I wasn't exactly sold.
Again, because the stories are left with unanswered questions to the lore or story to my craving to comprehend the full depth of the supernatural or character in the horror.

After reading all of these chapters though, I'm a big fan.
So much so that I look forward to complete all of his work.
As much of a fan of horror I am, I haven't experienced enough, so I don't have a grand knowledge of the manga horror community at all, but I can easily understand why he's one of the best.

His art is clean, gorgeous and slick in the composition he directs, with his character designs and incredible horrific scenes.
His stories are always entertaining, either for being fun, shocking or utterly horrific in the experience of the plot and the horror in it.

His characters are mostly teenagers and young adults, while most seem simple, there's a great subtle complexity to them even without knowing their inner thoughts.
Junji Itou doesn't display the same realism in human interaction that other Mangaka could that looks more obvious for being distinct and/or natural, but he does in fact display a realistic interaction at times nonetheless which I appreciate.

At first, I thought his characters were somewhat linear and almost basic in a retro condensed style of storytelling, but I later realized that even if his stories may kinda feel like western retro horror films, there is a subtle greatness to his characters out of just the horror their in.

Not only that,
but his dynamic range of several distinct ideas for horror is truly amazing. Excellent work.
