Ya it shows 3 different stages of our protagonist's life in 3 different episodes combined together as a 1 hour movie...

the manga was pretty good, but the anime left some really important scenes in the third part, especially when Takaki opens up to Risa and explains how he can't forgive himself. Without that part, the story seems too empty and unrelatable. I recommend everyone to give the manga a good read too. It's actually pretty good.

I almost hated how the anime ended, not because I dislike it or anything but because it made me feel really empty and bad, dude was stuck in the past for so long while his crush/gf had already moved on and found a man she loved, and everyone else moved on, time kept passing, while he lived in his messy apartment looking unhappy with his job and whatnot, it felt almost unfair. He kept typing messages throughout High school to her but never sent a single message, he couldn’t bring himself to move on from the past. It hurts because it’s one of the things I fear the most, not being able to move along time, living in the past instead of putting it behind you, it’s painful. Rejecting the other girl is proof of that, of the fact that he still felt a connection with his first love despite avoiding contact with her. Especially because it conveys the harsh reality of a long distance relationship. The ending felt somewhat okay, knowing that he realised he had to move on but I never actually got over the fact it still felt empty and this was some time ago when I watched it and yet I never really felt satisfied. I haven’t yet read the manga but depending on your answers I might give it a read, Did my man actually get a proper happy end? Was he really able to move on? Did he find someone? I don’t mind spoilers because I hadn’t been able to get it out of my head when I first watched it

Man, it's just bad and contradicts its' own logic, and freaking filming is atrocious imo, there are 3 good thigs about it: first arc, music and quality, for 2006 it is freaking impressive, just the plot sucks.

It's not that he still loves her, but that he stopped when she didn't. Actually he was responsible for the break up. It's explained really well in the manga you should read. Also, he wasn't typing those messages to her. As for spoilers
