Wanitokagegisu deals with a man who realizes at the age of 32 that all his life, he has avoided human contact, so much so that he has been impervious to the fact that he's living in isolation. What follows is his awkward journey, dealing with people, learning what loneliness meant for him and why he wants to do away with it.

Interspersed throughout are views on loneliness and individual/society that seem to be heavily influenced by Dostoevsky's works: A bit of Crime and Punishment and Notes from Underground.

Any thoughts?

Not just Dostoevsky, but Russian literature in general. The redundant person (лишний человек) is a common theme. Sorry about replying to an old post.
