Ep 1 was over 30 mins long! Really like the new OP. I had forgotten a lot of the details of how the story started so this was a great reminder.

It was still sad seeing Xiao Yan being insulted. Glad Xun-er was there for him.

Young Yao Lao was quite handsome. It was unfortunate that his disciple had betrayed him back then.

Yeah, this remake of season 1 was the right option.
Season 2 might also be up for a remake.

i dont think remake season 2 is good option, its better to continue story. Season 1 remake because there is a major different between character

Season 5 will run for damn near a year. So i would expect a season 2 and 3 remake after season 5 is finished.
Updating the older seasons will really help get it a more mainstream audience.

If I recall correctly, I believe I thought season 2's animation was worse than season 1's

Other than seeing how Teacher came to be in the ring in the first place, this was pretty much the same as the original season 1. The quality of animation was pretty good. No more awkward movements and speech patterns haha

I'm actually looking forward to the next 2 episodes even though I know what's going to happen. I just really enjoy this overall series

Yun'er with her eyes quickly flashing to yellow/gold. I don't remember that before

7/10. The story is good but I've seen it before haha. It's still fun though

Honestly this looks a lot better than the original, the pacing and style look leagues better as well. The old season 1 was more disney tone but dark and edgy whereas this is more true to the donghua style and especially the doupo cangqiong season 2-3-4 art style we are used to.

This first episode does feel a lot less densely packed with information like the original season 1 where it showed us Xiao Yan going up to test his cultivation. Now it pretty much just tells us the gist of the situation from the beginning. It's a lot more easier to understand this way but I feel it does lose a lot of probably useful information in the next few episodes. Nonetheless, good ep.
