On mal it says tokyo ghoul has 144 chapters but on my end it stops on chapter 143...

There is a Side story of Reze between chapter 46 and chapter 47 and its chapter 46.5 or something like that. Mal count that as a main chapter

Only if you want to learn more about who is rize (this is to understand the character better)

That’s how all manga are on MAL, they found side chapters, but yeah it’s the Rize side story. But 143 is the final chapter overall
