Can I watch this without having seen the show?

I saw an ad on Rightstuf saying that the English localization of this is coming to theaters on June 4th-6th and then noticed the score for this is crazy good! It’s within the top 75 and yet I’ve never seen any hype for it or noticed it until now. Can I watch this without any previous knowledge of the series, is it a musical and is it really that good? I’m curious.

No, you can't watch this without the series. The recap movie may be enough if you're short on time. I don't think this deserves such a high score, but it's still an interesting movie.

No, its a direct sequel to the series. You need to watch the series to understand it. Also yes, its is a musical. Since I originally watched it, this series has grown on me a lot and I do think it deserves the high score.

Despite being a direct sequel of the series, I would say that u can actually watch it first or just watch this if u don't want to watch the whole series. The movie itself informs u about the situation of the characters, so u would not be totally lost. And since the plot of the movie is not that complex, u can easily understand it with out having watch the show.

This movie is more or less the finale of all character arcs of the 9 characters in the series. If you didn't like the cast or the original TV series in the first place I don't think you'll like the movie imo.

Watching the movie for the action setpieces alone is not a bad idea, but don't blame me if you don't know what the hell is happening lmao

It's movie is one of the best anime I've ever seen; don't listen to anyone that says you can get away with skipping the prequel or just watching the recap or some shit, you can't. Hope you enjoy it if you get around to it.
