Hello everyone, this topic post will be used mostly for providing members a place to look back on announcements, club updates, activities and more. It's a sticky, but members feel free to post suggestions in club comments and provide further club ongoing activity. Thanks to the great Kineta for promoting the long-time club officer to admin :) Note- Past announcements of larger size will be hidden by spoiler tags, they won't be actual spoilers.... however, any spoiler button outside of this first post will most likely be actual spoilers unless said so. Sekirara Ni kiss, Saku-chan to Nozomi-kun, Noroigo no Meshitsukai, Komomo Confiserie, yona Sekai de Ichiban Dai Kirai,Liselotte to Majo no Mori, Noroigo no Meshitsukai, Fairy Cube, V.B. Rose, World is still beautiful, please save my earth. November 2024 Douse, Koishite Shimaunda/Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You Wow another year close to pass, and so quickly with so much announcements for shoujo as well as anniversary celebrations! If that isn't enough to be thankful for....this November it seems we're getting multiple sneak peeks and announcements for whats in store. The shoujo manga that took off during COVID lockdown, is now being selected to become a anime with a pv already available to see. This is the first reverse harem shoujo we've seen (thats not vampires or idols) in years. Set to premiere this Winter anime season! If that isn't enough the classic previously announced but assumed forgotten Versailles remake has gotten it's release date set now for January 2025!!!! Thats only 2 months away! The time for apprehension, worry and possible excitement can start after finally since 2007 it seems like its going to happen! Seems like hopefully attention may be finally given to classic vintage shoujo as apparently even older previously unavailable manga in English have recent years gotten omnibus complete English translations and releases as special editions...first Versailles, and now Princess Knight as well! Good oncoming winter timing considering in Japan they had a special 'Dreamy Christmas' event held in honor of the mangaka's 90th anniversary back in 2018. A snowy spotlight will be planned for either later this month or the next. Stay tuned! _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ October 2024 Natsume Book of Friends & Vampire Dormitory We've been focusing on Hana to Yume since May.....and even if there is plenty of things 'Hana to Yume' related to discuss. It was decided that for the month of October/November.....a spooky quick break is in order (or at least a bit more geared that way). To make up for the previous month absence....2 announcements are being given this month. First is the long overdue seasons 3-7 of Natsume's Book of Friends have now finally been added to the relations after only seasons 1 and 2 being on the list. Season 7 is still currently airing as of October 2024. Second - What better to counter a Hana to Yume anniversary, then inserting 'Nakoyoshi; magazine commemorative celebratory anime! An all new original shoujo anime about vampires was created from April - June 2024...with it's manga having finished publishing on June of 2024 as well. The fact that the Vampires in Shoujo Anime hasn't really been much seen since the then very popular 'Vampire Knight' back in 2008(oh the memories).....this is an 'interesting' surprise. After all it's always nice to see more 'new' Shoujo anime being made. Thanks to Klefki_of_Awsome for informing the club of the Nakoyoshi news _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ May 2024 The year 2024 just keeps getting better and better for Shoujo and we can all agree that it's about time! Just after having 3 shoujo animes announced for this year; Hana to Yume, one of Japan's popular shoujo manga magazines is hosting a 50th Anniversary celebration this May. In honor of some of their top hit works for the past 50th years, Japan organized a mobile campaign, train advertisements, 'special' celebration magazine issues and an exhibition along with goodies in commemoration! Events like this makes one realize just how many great titles they have published throughout all that time. It's shocking but yet understandable at the same time......afterall they're a popular magazine for a reason. Although here at Shoujo Wonderland on myanimelist we won't be on site or have any of the same goodies. (don't we wish we were in Japan :( ) We will though have discussions in store, interesting features and more possible interesting events to join in the celebration. Rest assured this month and possibly next month and beyond will be heavily Hana to Yume focused!!! The best gift from Japan that we all will get to experience however is the announcement of a'NEW' Shoujo anime!!!! 2 NEW Shoujo Anime!!!!! (update since 6-11-2024) Hana Kimi one of Hana to Yume's popular 90s manga will finally be getting a Anime!!!! As well as newer Shoujo manga titled Tamon-kun Ima Docchi!? (ooReiko predicted it first just last week XD) As well as apparently as recent as 2020, classic shoujo manga Glass Mask got an opera play in Japan based on a play that took place in the manga series itself called 'Red Heavenly Woman. Always nice to see a 'classic' being remembered in some way This makes 4 5 BIG shoujo animes getting released in 2024. Let's celebrate!!!! In the meantime while the SPECIAL SPOTLIGHT is getting prepped....feel free to share what's your favorite Hana to Yume titles in club comments! Much thanks to club member ooReiko for providing the info, and to kihel for providing further input _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ April 2024 Honey Lemon Soda! Exciting Shoujo Anime NEWS! Mangaka Murata Mayu...well known for her classy, detailed artstyle that is perfect for shoujo has gotten finally one of her mangas to be made into a anime. Honey Lemon Soda! A series that secretly from the benches of obscurity to have risen up into unexpected popularity and big appreciation with shoujo lovers has gotten announced that it will be made into a anime! This is great news because not only will we be getting another new original shoujo anime series this year, but it will be from a writer that's been in the industry since 2007 and defined her artstyle with much respect to the shoujo artists before her. If you haven't read this series, (I haven't yet although the art and title has been tempting me for the past 2 years) then consider it great timing due to the anime being created later on. Whether or not this will be considered as a spotlight now for this month or postponed until the anime's airdate is still being determined. If members wish the spotlight to be now, please say so in the club comments. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ March 2024 Toppū to Beat (Blast of Wind and Beat) NEWS for Shoujo fans of Kimi ni Todoke! It's mangaka is releasing a brand new manga this year. It will be her first work in years. Plot description is minimal, but the artwork looks pretty enough. As for the 'Read this Manga' Poll on myanimelist...the results are in! Scroll down to December/January 2024 for more info. Spotlight for this month is still being determined.....check back periodically. HAPPY LEAP YEAR EVERYONE! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ February 2024 Children of Whales While in February many are thinking of love. Here at the shoujo club we figured after last month's numerous reflections of romantic stories, as well as the 'Read this manga' poll still counting up the votes..... for this month we the unique and odd manga Children of Whales was chosen instead to be added to the club and spotlighted later on. After getting an anime in 2017, and reaching its end last year we figured it was overdue to be added. The reason why it took so long.........the fact that it was shoujo and not seinen was a shock. It's plot seems more fitting to a seinen dystopian tale of struggles....not your typical shoujo. However this is why its a nice addition...definitely showcasing the diverse types of shoujo out there. Check out the clubs separate anime spotlight thread for more spotlight participation. Oh and dont worry, still feel free to take part in Januarys New's Years special if you missed your chance yet to. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ It's reached that time again. The new year's special! For it's 2nd annual run, this time around much more series to look back on including many that were new announced and joined the club right on airing date! Now's the perfect time to catch up any previous year's releases or club spotlight discussions if you missed the chance to. Or simply share any new (or new to you) shoujo series you enjoyed in 2023. For this month there will be an additional new club relation spotlighted later on this month in addition to the ones featured. Stay tuned not only now but later on this month! Check out the clubs separate anime spotlight thread for more information to participate. ...poor DN Angel its image got forgotten in the banner due to size. Its still apart of the special spotlight though. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ January 2024- March 2024 We complained and they listened. To celebrate the end of this eventful year. Myanimellist realized the previous 'Read this manga' event hadn't been timely with its eligible titles inclusions and therefore are giving it another go. This time over 20 shoujo titles were included in the poll! Apparently attention will be given more to series that were overlooked previously....hence the previous winners were not supposed to be selected again. Previously only 3 titles made the top lists, with 3 others in minor bonus rankings (resulting in 2 of them getting animes! And NOW!!!! We got similar results in top numbers....but with a twist...or glitch??? Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki, The King's Beast, Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoushi, Umi ga Hashiru End Roll Now here's where it gets confusing. This year there were no bonus categories, so in a way compared to the last poll Shoujo made it with 4 titles in the main category polls, while the previous poll it was only 3 in that rank. .....However...... series like Yubisaki no RenRen and Skip to Loafer shouldn't have been a option in this poll due to being chosen and making it in the final ranks previously....and it was still included, and to top off it made it on the 'Beginnner's List' ???? Although that's not exactly a bad thing, however another shoujo series could have been highlighted instead. The other confusing bit is there were some series where it is unclear if they are shoujo or not....however the plots do seem very shoujo.....makes one wonder if series like this get animes what will they even be???? Either or these are the other series in question Doumo, Suki na Hito ni Horegusuri wo Irai sareta Majo desu, No, Youna, Hotaru no Yomeiri On a happy note!!! I am very glad of the shoujo titles that did make it in the results this time! All are interesting series that deserve it! If anyone's curiousity is peeked....don't worry for the next few months some of the winners will definitely be selected as club 'spotlights'!!!! Everyone who voted....lets be happy of the slightly improved results this time around. Below were the other shoujo series that were voting options incase anyone is wondering. Suenagaku Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu, 31-banme no Okisaki-sama, Ima, Koi wo Shiteimasu, Yamaguchi-kun wa Warukunai, Nanoni, Chigira-kun ga Amasugiru, Noraneko to Ookami, Inishie Otaku no Koiwazurai, Himegimi wa Kishi Danchou, Kimi no Koto ga Suki de Ienai, Noroigo no Meshitsukai. And these are some of the josei's....as a extra tidbit.... Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna, Kimi no Sekai ni Koi wa Nai, Double, Futsutsuka na Akujo dewa Gozaimasu ga: Suuguu Chouso Torikae Den ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ November 2023 Aqua and Pretty Boy Detective Club For November the realization of the fact that 2 seinen anime series actually at one point were shoujo manga???!!! Aria originally started out as a shoujo manga along with Pretty Boy Detective Club! With this eventful year nearing its 12th month...I thought these manga series being apart of Novembers sticky would be a good idea to have this club's revamp first year end filled with all sorts of news for shoujo. Well deserved! Note: Only the shoujo manga of these series will be added not their seinen anime. For a moment it was wondered if the manga series of these belong in this club, but considering Cutey Honey F has its anime added even though it has a separate shonen series, and Sugar Apple Fairytale also has a seinen manga version alongside a shoujo manga; therefore Aqua and Pretty Boy Detective Club are fine here. Plus the plots still seem just like shoujo as well. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ August 2023 Kimi ni Todoke & Kimi ni Todoke Bangai-hen: Unmei no Hito 2018-2022 We've reached August on the first year of this club's new revival and new admin. It's shocking that the year just went by that quickly, but yet at the same time many interesting things have happened since then with this club, and discussions since then. August happens to be a great month to celebrate this in a 'special' way! It marks the month of this club's very first 'spotlight' being created back in 2008, and also happens to mark the month of the manga Kimi ni Todoke's debut also back in August 2008 in Japan, coincidently...just a month afterwards this club was created in September 2008, while also the entire site myanimelist switched from being a cool site owned by fans/run by fans into being sold to a large company and becoming the large website we know today that has a ever growing database, and even announces simuldubs (site staff is still run by fans though)and alas a darkmode. The club has also reached over 2,000 members! With so much coincidental events coinciding, for this month's Spotlight it will be a re-consideration of the Anime/Manga series Kimi ni Todoke....and the club's look has been changed a bit to celebrate! Long time fans/members - Head on over to the spotlight thread, or the club comments to share your memories of your anime fandom in 2008, or your opinion on Kimi ni Todoke. For those that weren't anime fans back in 2008, or haven't seen/read the chosen series - This serves as a good way to hear/read the experiences from fans of the past or 'read' up on the opinion of this series. This will be a two month celebration, with a second 'special' series to be chosen next month. Contest would have been planned but wasn't possible due to more member participation needed. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ May 2023 picture thanks to IrisRaw Sugar Apple Fairytale It's been a tough wait, but finally the month has come for it's time to join. Sugar Apple Fairytale one of this year's latest all-new new 'Shoujo' Anime creations after anxiously keeping an eye on it since it's announcement, and thankfully it has also gotten treated to being dubbed in English as well. It's also one of these odd new series that manage to not only have a light novel, but two different versions of manga, one seinen and the other shoujo???? Either or this is one new series that has got me excited for the first time in nearly a decade!!! It's second season will be aired Summer 2023. Shoujo definitely deserves it! I haven't been able to watch the English dub yet, since its hard to find, but I hope to watch it very soon! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ April 2023 Myanimelist's Read this manga results finally were announced. The good news is 6 Shoujo Manga managed to make the cut!!!! The shocking news is they're from the most unexpected series???? Yubisaki RenRen, Namaikizakari, & Hananoi-kun to Koi Yamai I have to say I'm shocked Yubisaki no RenRen made it twice in the top 2 main catergory entries! Both it and Hananoi to Koi Yamai got an anime announced out of this poll as well ( I'm not surprised by Yubisaki getting one though). I've been reading Yubisaki no RenRen since it's beginning, and have heard of Namaikizakari, but other then the artwork of Yubisaki no RenRen and Hananoi to Koi Yamai I still can't believe that all the other eligible titles didn't even make it in the additional extra category entries but somehow the 3 titles below did??????? Ouji ga Watashi wo Akiramenai, (complete manga bonus entry) Getting closer to you & Neko to Kiss (as Kodonsha 'unique' picks) Snow White with Red Hair, Skip Beat, Cardcaptor Sakura-Clear Card, Creamy Mami, Freja, Ou no Kemono: Enpei no Arcana, Vampire Knight, Queen's Quality and Sugar Apple Fairytale were the other eligible titles and 3 others never even got added while another took over 21 days to get added......something tells me shoujo titles got a oddly managed poll????? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ October 2023 Relations Update: DN Angel's anime and manga series were added to the club relations after failing to have been added for years despite it's large popularity.....possibility of being confused as shonen as the reason. July 2023 Relations Update: My Little Monster/Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun anime and manga was added to club relations after 10 years??? Sadly it never got a dub or as pretty animation. June 2023 Relations Update: Both QQ Sweeper it's sequel Queen's Quality were added to club relations; surprising considering QQ Sweeper's popularity in the past, and the fact that Queen's Quality was still currently publishing. Very underappreciated. March 2023 Relations Update- Seiyu Ka manga was added to relations after 7 years and was chosen as spotlight for the month of March. February 2023- 'Read this manga' voting poll that myanimelist held votes were open during the month. January 2023- In celebration of the club's first new year...the 'Spotlight' club feature was brought back, and because of the new year for the month it was a 'New Year Special' that featured 3 of the past years club's recent relation additions, instead of being just one main series. Spotlights are discussed more fully in the club's separate spotlight anime/manga forum thread. December 2022- In time for the New Year- Ore Monogatari was added to relations after 8 years!!! Enjoy 2023 everyone.....hope members enjoy the change to the club sticky and the upcoming 'Shoujo Spotlight' feature returning!!!!! Also thanks to @takai an error in image description in club gallery was fixed. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ November 2022 Update- Nana a longtime relation addition underwent reconsideration. However, in the end....it was decided that despite appearing to be more like a josei in plot and characters...due to being published in a shoujo magazine...it was left in the club relations as an odd exception. October 2022 Update- Missing Mangas of Anime relations added after many glitches. September 2022 Relations Update- Upcoming Rose of Versailles Movie added to relations. August 2022 Relations Update- Kamisama Kiss has been added to the relations after 7 years. July 2022 Relations Update- Haikara's classic remake movie has been added to the relations - Long-time mislabeled club relation of Honey & Clover has been removed from relations. Sorry fans to the series, but it shouldn't have been a club relation in the first place. It's not shoujo but josei. No doubt the club description has stated since it's creation that this is a shoujo club, and not seinen or other similar anime/manga. May 24 2022 Update- There was quite a bit done in the club's first update that needed to be done as in fixing the club description from broken links, and added long time series Yona and Snow White, as well as Fruits Basket's 2022 movie (after six years of their English release) to relations!! Hope club members enjoy the new club picture! New club discussion feature has been added. However I won't be on that part of the club, so please reach out to me in the comments or club forums if a suggestion to the club is to be made. More updates will also be coming and will be posted both here and comments. If there's any suggestions, feel free to share in comments. |

UsagiBloom said: Are you agreeing it's josei. In my book it is more of a josei but I guess Nana is a unique exception and it's a shoujo so it most likely will stay in this club.Omg I love Nana so much, it was my rosy big girl Josei when I stumbled upon it stage 15. |

Yeah according to the magazine it was published in, it’s a shoujo…I guess because of all of the drama. But I have seen around the web where other fans will call it Josei. Especially on tumblr. |
