How much novel has been adapted up to this point as compared to the original anime?
and what do you think how many more episodes are to go to reach the end?
I am a beginners to start this anime can you please tell me which was a better adaptation according to your point of view the older one or the new one and if it is worth it to wait for the new adaptation to be completed?

Currently, Die Neue These is in the midst of adapting volume 3 of the novels (out of a total of 10). This season will most likely finish adapting the remainder of that volume. Assuming they allocate 12 episodes per volume, a complete adaptation would have 120 episodes. As a reference, the old OVA adaptation had 110 episodes.

Personally, I'm biased towards the old anime. In my opinion, the dialogue feels less stiff and the character interactions feel more realistic. Also I prefer the space battles, because they are not as flashy as in DNT. And of course, its all classical soundtrack gives it a timeless quality. The new anime does upgrade the setting to make it look appropriately futuristic though, so that's a plus I guess.

Ah, I see you're a person of culture as well. I agree 100% with you.

I think it'll take a few more years for this version to be completed.
On which is better, I agree with the first reply on most points, I think I prefer the old one a bit more. I remember the old version having a more "fluid" feeling to the dialogue and general story progression, plus the soundtrack was really good. Slightly subjective, but it also felt more "epic" in its presentation.
There are some minor differences in episode order at the start, and I remember the OVA anime having some original content here and there, but they're the exact same story. On that merit, I still think Die Neue These is great so far, since the source material is just that good.
Then there's the world and art design, which I think is also somewhat subjective; DNT introduces a lot of more recent sci-fi design choices that makes it feel more futuristic, while the previous OVA series has a more "classical" style to the world (if that makes sense). I like how the world looks and works in this series maybe a bit more, but it's very much up to personal taste.

Do I think it's worth waiting for this to be finished? Well, no, especially since it's going to take a while for it to be finished, and there's also the fact that you essentially already have the full story available to watch as the old OVA series (which is still incredibly watchable in 2022).

Is this adaptation still worth watching? Definitely, it's a slightly different experience, but still LoGH. If I think the original anime is 10/10 overall, then this is 9/10 overall (so far). If you don't mind waiting for new episodes to come out, you can start watching this adaptation now, but if you don't want to wait between seasons and want to watch the full story, then there's nothing wrong with just watching the old anime OVA series.
