Apologies in advance for my English. To be honest, I don’t know if this is intentional or a mistake, but where is the anime genre shoujo-ai? Light novel has this genre, manga has this genre, it makes sense that anime should have this genre. After all, the genre says a lot and the work, and many viewers of myanimelist would immediately have no questions and claims regarding male characters. For in this genre they are always either not there, or they play not the most significant roles.

I am confused too. What is the difference between shoujo ai and Yuri? Is Yuri a hardcore love between two girls and shoujo ai just kinda relationship or is it different?

yuri usually has explicit contents. While shoujo-ai is a genre that focuses on girl x girl fluffy stories like bloom into you, adachi to shimamura

The word yuri translates literally to "lily", and is a relatively common Japanese feminine name. White lilies have been used since the Romantic era of Japanese literature to symbolize beauty and purity in women, and are a de facto symbol of the yuri genre. (Source: Wikipedia)

Shoujo-ai? Basically, it's a genre of anime that has a love story between two girls as a focus point. There may even be other heterosexual relationships on the side, but the focus relationship must be with two females. (Source: Honeysanime)

Actually it's not that hard to do a simple google search if you have access to Internet.

Thanks. I couldn't Google it up because shoujo ai was referring to Yuri plus I was too lazy to do in-depth searching.

A Yuri is a manga where the plot is about the homosexual relationship but a Shojo ai is not only a romance show (for example here the plot is not center about there relationship) so for example banana fish is a shonen ai but not a yaoi

Isn't Shoujo? (Banana Fish) given it got published in a Shoujo Magazine and that's how Demographs works in Japan as far as I'm concerned if it were to publish in a Josei Magazine then it falls in the Josei Demograph. If that's incorrect then add something new to my knowledge.

When things are fluffy, cute moments and kissing, it's shoujo ai, and when things start getting sexual, it's yuri

I’ll correct my post a little, for some reason, the shoujo-ai genre doesn't have on myanimelist manga and light novel, most likely because of this it wasn't added to the genre in anime . But I think this is a mistake that needs to be fixed.

An excellent definition of the genre, with which I completely agree.

shoujo ai means pedophilia, use the term Gl or girls love instead; and while shokei shoujo has gay characters such as momo or akari, i don't know if that would be enough to consider this anime a yuri o GL since menou hasn't shown any romantic feelings towards neither of them

Shoujo and Shonen is demographic. Banana Fish is one of example where Male protagonist release in female demographic (Shoujo). Shonen also have female protagonist like Claymore, Tokyo Esp and the others.

This list is the best for your knowledge.

For Male Protagonist in Female Demographic (Shoujo and Josei) is around 947

For Female Protagonist in Male Demographic (Shonen and Seinen) is around 1848.
