I don't understand why this manga leans so much on BL and fujoshi, that too Yuriko wanting to read R18 content and she seems to be obsessed with it. Kind of ironic that she says the world is filled with "love and sex" but BL is her only escape while involving herself in content that is filled with love and sex.

Not saying that asexual people can't read that stuff but I've always found such content off putting and can't help but think that the author is just pushing forward to gain more views from fujoshis and praise BL instead of actually writing an asexual character, even in the previous chapters it often mentions 'gay' husband and 'fujoshi' wife with asexual if included written in a smaller font.

It was actually kind of crazy to read this chapter because I kept thinking "yes exactly!" and "this is how I've felt all my life". So in that way I have to say I enjoyed it way more than I expected.

Since they introduced Gil, I hoping now that Yuriko will meet other asexuals at some point. (Who knows maybe even Gil himself?) Her and Gakurouta's relationship seems to be going towards the way of a platonic partnership, which is nice.

I don't understand what you mean by "actually writing an asexual character". I'm asexual and I like reading doujinshi about my favourite ship... It's just like it was explained in this manga. There are no women involved so it doesn't bother me because I'm completely removed from its world. And it specifically points out that BL isn't free of the love and sex obsession of the world.

I'm asexual too and I find content focused on sex to be off-putting. If you've read any part of the manga it's just pushing forward and focusing on the MC being a fujoshi. "No women involved" argument makes no sense unless you are just a hypocrite.

It makes perfect sense to people who it applies to. Your experience isn't the only kind of "actual" asexual experience. It's pretty obvious from the manga that it has this setting as a starting point from which it can branch out and explore the dynamics further. Every chapter goes deeper and into a new topic. If you don't like the series then drop it but stop saying that sex-repulsed asexuals are the only "actual" asexuals, that's rude.

MC is nothing more than a self-insert for fujoshis, go read your gay-rape hentai.

Bro wtf are you talking about. I've never encountered "gay-rape hentai", whatever that is, but cool to know that there some of that out there that's apparently "mine". Surely you're not trying to imply that every sex scene out there is "gay-rape hentai", now are you. As for your ignorant attitude, if you ever get involved with the LGBTQ+ community, you might just realize how diverse sexuality is and how no two people are the same. You might also realize that there are all kinds of different asexual people, some are sex-repulsed, some are sex-indifferent, some are sex-favourable. And if you learned one bit of asexual community history, you might also realize how every single time someone like yourself has tried to set up a "real asexuals only" club, they have always collapsed due to the simple fact that there are no two asexual people who have the exact same experience and eventually nobody has been "real" enough to fit the criteria.

Huge agree! I also found myself relating to the MC so much. I never thought I could see myself reflected in a manga like this :)

This whole first volume just made me incredibly happy. I feel so seen!

Nah dear you are looking to much into it, you labeled your own sexualiy, we are all different even if your sexuality is the same your persona is not.
I like to post in manga forum when I feel it is worth it, so people will think. "Shit, is her again" or something.

People asked me where I read certain thing but the rules say no telling where did you read so maybe I am too boring for not saying? Or salty because you didn't check my profile that says don't ask because I hate people to ghost me after that. I love learning languages so maybe I did not read the manga in English.

I've already mentioned this in my first post, I never said that asexuals can't read BL or sexual content and I've never said anything about what a "real asexual" is supposed to be it's just that this manga advertises as having an "asexual" character but each chapter just mentions about how she's a fujoshi and has extreme reactions to even touch because of her sexuality but is fine being touched by a gay guy.

Also go to the BL section of any site and it will most definitely be filled with a bunch of porn with the images themselves giving away that there's some kind of non-con or dub-con going on.

I really fail to see what's the issue. She can be asexual and like BL, those are not mutually exclusive things. Clearly this series is about them becoming friends over time. Would be kind of tragic if she wouldn't never grow comfortable enough for him to even touch her normally. Even from the perspective of feminism it's also very understandable why a woman would be more comfortable being touched by a man she knows with certainty has no ~intentions~ with her (because he's gay and not into women).

Uhh yeah, if you go to a porn site, you are going to find porn. Did you know that for straight porn, many topics considered morally reprehensible are extremely popular? That's because people don't usually care about the morality of it while getting off. If you don't like non-con porn, I suggest not consuming non-con porn. And if you honestly think that BL as a genre is, how did you phrase it, gay-rape hentai, I'm sorry but you're wrong and seemingly judging a whole genre of work based on porn site catalogues. That's like saying that straight romance is rape hentai just because there also happens to be non-con straight porn in existence (and a lot of it at that).

The ridiculousness of saying any of this considering THIS manga is the worst, because the mangaka actively shares things regarding the fight for LGBT+ rights in Japan on her social media.

Given that she's into BL and immediately starts thinking about her BL stuff the moment she sees her husband with his crush seems to be an obvious give away that it's a fujoshi's pipe dream

Here's the thing, I don't have to go to porn sites, it's literally there on the BL tab of of the regular manga site I buy my manga from and here's something even more interesting, if I enable my safe search it gives me warning that it's filled with sexual and violent content

Are you gonna call booklive a porn site now?

Most likely a deluded fujoshi herself and she's certainly not the only one because I've seen BL authors promote their problematic content as the most romantic thing in existence.

Also I don't consider myself asexual anymore, I'm just someone who hates sex so you don't have to worry about your LGBT stuff, I don't want to be associated with that, have seen enough of how you guys use your sexuality to defend pedophillia, rape, non-con-dub-con, abuse, harassment and the likes if it's done by a hot gay guy, this I speak from my real experience with fujoshis/fudanshis. This is the very reason I'm sick of BL and its fans.

Uh yeah, I would call a website that sells porn manga a porn site. What else would it be?

The way you absolutely can't understand that just like straight romance and straight porn exist, also gay romance and gay porn exist, yet you are here condemning a genre of gay romance just because gay porn happens to exist. It's ridiculous.

You couldn't explain why majority of the BL tab consists of that shit while the tabs for shoujo and shounen aren't filled with straight porn, that in itself says a lot, doesn't it?

You only focused on pedophilia and ignored the rest so I take it that you admit that LGBT people support those things in the name of gay? Is it truly a lie when I have seen these people praise authors on twitter calling a relationship which contains rape and abuse as "well written good representation"?

More like says a lot about the website you use. When I browse doujinshi, it's safe for work stuff so. Maybe you shouldn't use that weirdo site that sells porn if porn bothers you so much.

Pedophilia is the main fascist lie constantly promoted by conservatives to actively attack LGBT and especially trans people right now as we speak. This crowd kills LGBT people, promotes these crazy lies, sends bomb threats to children's hospitals that treat trans patients etc. This is the active campaign going on right now in which the lie of pedophilia is the main part, which is why I focused on it. And yes, it is a lie, go outside and touch grass. I literally don't give a shit if there's rape or abuse in porn because IT'S PORN. Like do you know why porn exists? Do you know why it's not there to be moral? Do you know what arousal is? Erection? Like do you understand any of these concepts? Do you know what sexual roleplay is? Did you know that a study found out that 61% of American women and 54% of American men have fantasized about being raped? Do you think that that means they actually want to be raped? (It doesn't and it's probably good that they can explore this fantasy in porn instead of real life.) I have like actual scientific knowledge here and your arguments come from "I saw this on Twitter".

And of course, the reason why you only see BL porn is because you use weirdo sites that promote it instead of looking up SFW BL, but that's your own fault. Though since you're so interested in reading non-porn BL, why not check out this list with OVER 76 THOUSAND WORKS: https://www.anime-planet.com/manga/tags/shounen-ai

Again you failed to explain why these people use their sexuality to defend these things as "good". You easily group anything bad with porn but why are LGBT people making claims that a relationship involving rape is "good representation"? The series in question here was literally about a hot gay guy harassing the straight MC to go gay for him and with just the right amount of abuse he does and it's not even yaoi, it belongs to shounen-ai category like the ones you've mentioned in your comment.

I don't know how much the list can be trusted, the very first title listed on it has a "Sexual Content" tag. King Maker again has tags for "Sexual Abuse", "Physical Abuse", "Sexual Content". Mo Dao Zu Shi novel has some sort of kink play. I can see Super Lovers listed in there which I know has sexual assault since I dropped its anime at that point but doesn't have any such tags which would indicate that. Are all 75 thousand titles really SFW? Looks like another one of those so called porn sites I suppose.

Watashi wa Kabe ni Naritai has no straight MC, the fuck are you talking about. In case you forgot, the series in question here is Watashi wa Kabe ni Naritai Chapter 6, which you started ranting and raving about because you think that the MC of this series isn't an "actual" asexual. Then it turned out you're not asexual at all (= your opinion on this doesn't actually matter) but a full blown antisexualist, opposing to the fact that any series with sexual anything in it is being made at all. Which is, I'm guessing, caused by some personal childhood trauma you should probably work out with a therapist instead of Twitter and MAL forums. That is THE context of this conversation.

On that website, "Sexual Content" is defined as: "These manga have a mild amount of sexual content, such as light Nudity or implied/off-camera sex acts." Light nudity or off-camera sex acts doesn't count as porn LMAO.

Maou_heika said:

Can't say since I haven't read that series, but just because there is a Sexual or Physical Abuse tag doesn't mean that the main characters are doing that to each other. It could be a villain doing it to a random side character or literally anything. This happens in series all the time not just BL.

Good thing then that Mo Dao Zu Shi the novel is not on the list. The manhua is, and the manhua has no sex in it.

Can't say since I haven't read it, but of course there could be insufficient tagging no one has fixed.

Maou_heika said:

It is over 76 thousand and without a doubt yes, though there might of course be a couple of cases of insufficient tagging I guess since that is a site where the tags are added by users. But there is a separate tag for BL porn on that site so there's no reason why they'd put the porn in the non-porn tag. (And no, no title can be added to both porn and non-porn category at the same time.)

It's not a porn site, it's an official site that distributes digital manga and LN, and the listing is based on what sells more which is a quick giveaway about fujoshis/fudanshis like. Unlike the west Japan doesn't categorize BL under shounen-ai and yaoi. Go to any Japanese manga/LN distribution site and it will be that same.

I have seen them saying these things myself, or are you implying that these people were lying about their sexuality? And it's not just twitter but on youtube and reddit as well. Now stop arguing and go back to indulge yourself in one your favorite gay rape porn.

What if you stop arguing and take the L since you clearly lost + are a homophobe. Like I've said multiple times that I don't read NSFW stuff so idk why you keep insisting I like gay rape porn but I mean. You clearly HAVE read it since you're such an expert on it and will keep bringing it up in conversations about series that are not it...

Though now that I look at MAL guidelines, it says forbidden things are:

  • Insults and other name-calling (this is you saying I am a gay rape enjoyer)
  • Prejudice and bigotry based on gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, etc. (this is you saying those bad things about LGBT+ people)

I don't think you've really talked in a way here that fits the guidelines. Can't say I've been the most graceful, but cmon. It is also you who started this with your gay rape line. When you were saying inaccurate things about asexuality, I was friendly trying to correct you as a person who knows a lot about it. But your reaction? Accusing me of being a gay rape enjoyer. I hope you are proud of your poise and very mature conversation skills.

Wow! This whole thread is a dumpster fire!

Anyway, I really liked this chapter--Gil reassuring Yuriko that asexuality exists and that there's nothing wrong with her is so heartwarming. I think it's such a huge thing to know that there's other people out there that experience similar things, and it makes me feel seen to see a character not just 'not interested right now' but have it written clear as day that she's asexual, and use the word for it too. I feel like there's so many characters that you can interpret as asexual, but this one isn't just implied, which I appreciate.

Ngl, I felt it deep in my heart when Gil said "So aren't people free to not fall in love at all?" I think there's a lot of us that really needed to hear that when we were younger, so seeing it said so simply to a character that was really struggling with feeling 'wrong' for being ace is really nice.

Wow.
Back to back banger chapters.
Subarashiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.....

This whole chapter had me saying,
Subarashiiiii all the time in my mind

A chef's kiss to the Mangaka.
The insight on her personality was just too amazing.
The way it was foretold and her suffering from it was showed was amazing.
And, yes, society will always condemn you, even you slight away a little, they will glare you and rebuke you, like you are the type of person which should not exist.
Fuck off them.
Many people are sometimes tired of relationship and many just don't like it and many just loves it, and like her many doesn't want to involve or even feel anything when it comes to them.

No matter how much I praise the Mangaka, it can't be enough.
Just Chef's kiss.
