I really like the idea of this anime but am I the only one that thinks they’re characters are poorly developed?
Taichi - Always wanted to play this hero complex 24/7 it got obnoxious
Iori- She actually isn’t a terrible character she’s actually the only one I like
Inaba - Cant trust anyone for legit no apparent reason? I feel like she overthinks constantly but to have trust issues without a reason is odd, her character had potential
Yui - I’m mad they made her character have androphobia so it can be resolved almost instantly just from a kick to the nuts. Other than that, that’s all I seen from her
Aoki - basically a living rock.

You’ve made this post as if you went into the show with really high expectations. It’s a 7/10 show, the characters are going to be pretty bland

the show is close to an 8/10 the rating is actually pretty good which is why i’m surprised it’s bad. not all 7/10 shows are bad or mediocre.

That’s so interesting because I thought 4/5 of them had some pretty good characterization. Correct me if I’m wrong but if I recall correctly Iori had some solid background and development. Yui also didn’t immediately feel comfortable around men and only tolerated them even after being helped by Taichi. I might be biased since I liked Inaba but her personality stretched out of just having trust issues so I overlooked it since she had many layers to her. The men on the other hand zzz.

No, you are not alone as the people who rated this show a 6 is also significant, which meant that there are also people that moderately to not really enjoying this anime as well. You wrote few good points in your argument, However, I disagree almost entirely with your argument. Bear in mind that personality comes from both aspect, internal(biological, such as how brain perceive and process information) and external(surrounding environment and experience, such as people and experience from those interactions) and main characteristics of a character are not easily changeable which is greatly potrayed in this show. Not only that, the characters are layered in ways that makes them feel realistic.

Taichi is caring person and at the sametime also usually relied upon by his sister/friends/others so it is understandable for him to be selfless/have hero complex. Why should he change his selfless personality? What instances grant his personality to change? Just because you're fed up with it? If anything, the arcs that happened just made him understand more of that personality and it's implications.

Inaba, she's short tempered, likes to overthink(I agree with this) things and have hardtimes connecting with people(which is already explained in the anime) which accumulated to why she had trust issues even when she had finally find a place where she feels that she belongs(there's also other reason that I can't mention because it's a spoiler). Your expectations that it has to derive from some terrible past to justify them to have less than desirable personalities is short sighted in my opinion, humans are flawed.

Yui, yes what you said is one of the factors that motivated her to gradually overcome her situation but it doesn't also magically dissappear as shown in the show. Also, the context is much larger as she experience it herself instead of just randomly guessing. Your other issue is also addressed by the show(it would be a spoiler if I were to explain it).

Aoki, there's a reason as to why he's like that(just a guess here, you haven't finish this show, have you?).

Just because you don't like one or some characters doesn't translate as them being poorly written character.

no
taichi - horny to the point where he literally finds out he randomly swaps bodies with his friends and first thing he decides to do is touch boobs and has a severe case of hero complex

This post is just my opinion. And yes I think they’re poorly written. I don’t understand why said you agree with my points then completely disagree everything I just said. I know humans are flawed but literally nothing really stood out to make me like them. Like I said issues got resolved too fast, I didn’t find the characters enjoyable to ME and characters had potential for better growth or not just have the same personality trait for 13 episodes straight. Side note why are you assuming I don’t like them if they troubled pasts I can still dislike them plz shut up with that.

And I'm just stating my opinion as well, this is a forum of discussion where people discuss topics and form opinions, is it not? I wrote that I agree with a few good points in your arguments but not the entirety of the statement/arguments that your making. If you don't want anyone to disagree with your opinion, write a review instead.

I'm not saying it's wrong to not like them, my point is that I disagree that you find the characters to be poorly written because you don't enjoy them.

I didn't say that the characters doesn't develop either because they do.

Yes, I'm just assuming on that part and I might very well be wrong (so I apologize if I do), I thought that "I feel like she overthinks constantly but to have trust issues without a reason is odd, her character had potential" sounds like you want something more out of that personality(which I assume was terrible past such as in Iori's case and because you found her character to be at least alright/not disliked) which then I elaborate more with the expositions of her character that were given by the show to explain a probable link or cause so that personality doesn't seem odd anymore.

There are some few moments of really good chemistry between Taichi and Inaba. Also, Iori has great charisma in the beginning but there's no organic and convincing development from any of the characters. I finished the anime liking most of the characters less than when i started

fair enough, i’ve had plenty of anime that disappointed me but i really liked this one. A couple characters really pissed me off at times but overall i really liked it. Although the OVAs after it were the most poorly written OVAs i’ve seen in a while.

Aoki - basically a living rock.

Taichi stopped being selfish and stubborn and started listening to people

Inaba started trusting people

Yui didn't defeated androfobia, she still suffers it but its gettin softer.

Aoki faced his feelings after years.

Iori just complains about everyone hiding their problems and feelings, and says its stupid to think that friends will get annoyed because of showing them, and gives advice to everyone, but she just does the same and she talked because Inaba forced her and even after the last chapter she does the fucking same thing everytime, you complain about the other ones being poorly developed but you literally said that the character that makes the same mistake every episode and that didn't change shit since the start of the show is the one with better development? Lol

i made this thread only watching half of the show and i eventually dropped it because it was just unwatchable. that was just my opinion and perspective of the show from where i was at. and i still stand by what i say, just cause their personal issues got resolved doesn’t mean i’m going to suddenly find the characters enjoyable it seemed like a copy and paste of the show for 6 episodes. i felt like it would’ve worked better as an harem tbh when you barely see Aoki for half a show. i’m also aware not all humans are perfect and we’re flawed shit like that. but i just couldn’t get into the show unlike everyone else.

Trust me the anime gets better in the last 3 episodes and the michi randoms specials
Give it a chance and continue watching it
