Dude, this anime is I’m pretty sure suppose to be wonton boy aimed 1998? Pure b’ simple. It’s not what I call a good anime. I do personally like it, but, I think it was rushed during production, and, frankly the potholes and utter ridiculous nature of the film are what make it so good. I read about how it was extremely popular in late 90’s, prob due to the import vhs anime boom of its era, right before DVDs were a thing too.
It’s a landmark anime in that regard.

They haven't explained that. He "just knew it". You know, plot holes and stuff like that...
(I like the animation and the non censored bloody style of this anime, but that's all the pros about it)

If you drink a stronger poison brewed with the same herb while the first poison is still breaking down in your system, then it will neutralize the weaker poison and act as an antidote, and CAN save your life. It's technically more complicated than that and it varries depending on what's used but it's a common enough idea.
