Question about the “deal” that was made mid-season

2nd season was great. I’m confused on just one thing.

The boss of Excellent Era came and wanted to make a deal with Ye Xui for him to return as a coach or in some capacity (this happened mid season i think)

He denied, but at the end he asked for the Su Mucheng’s character in a trade and the boss agreed, saying he was surprised he didnt ask for One Autumn Leaf instead.

So I assumed this meant that he agreed to coach or do something for them in exchange for the rights to the character. But this was never again brought up and now it seems they will face each other in the Challenge instead.

Did I totally misunderstand this scene? Its possible the english subs were a little off causing my confusion.

Hi, i could be wrong cause i watched this a while ago. I think if i remember correctly the guy who offered to give a character back was just a courtesy-ish thing, almost like a gift he gave back for all he did for ex era. He just wanted to give like a goodbye gift. They didn't make a deal. Again i could be wrong but that is what i remembered happening.
