Yes, it had always been childish. It’s because of the cartoonish design and the light hearted theme.
Then again, yes, you should continue.
Season 3, Harvest Festival and Music Festival are pretty damn good.
From what the Anime is about to adapt, the story gets better and better so definitely recommend to continue.
Also check the manga if you’re interested.

Manga reader here (don’t worry, I won’t spoil):
Season 3’s arc shouldn’t be too bad i terms of action and character development
However, the plot gets rather dry and predictable after a while so I advise that you shouldn’t continue on to the manga after the anime ends or smth lol

Completely agree with you - evil Iruma was really great - the rest of the season was average and childish as you said. Didn't read the Manga, but lots of people say, that the story is getting better again.
