I feel that people are misremembering the events that happened in InuYasha, & push off Yashahime as "non-cannon" due to disliking it, or it's not the original character cast. Then, people have gotten mad at stuff that would likely happen anyway, like Sesshomaru marrying Rin. I've also seen people complain about Yashahime's pacing in season 1.

I've watched (& re-watched) InuYasha way before Yashahime began. I made sure that I've watched all episodes & movies. I've watched all of Yashahime season 1 & started watching season 2 (I've only watched up to episode 5). Currently, I'm waiting for season 2 to finish airing (in English), since it's still airing right now.

So far, for Yashahime it seems like there's different things that it doesn't explain, while it's explaining the stuff that's relevant to it's story. It's most likely due to certain things that was already explained in the prequel. Meaning, Yashahime assumes you've watched InuYasha already. I've gotten that vibe from Yashahime's first season & some from it's second season, so far. I see that Yashahime has some issues that'll most likely be ironed out by the time it's finished. However, some issues present in Yashahime was present in InuYasha as well. I don't really remember it's issues, though. I have to watch them again to find them.

For the events that happened in InuYasha, all of these should be kept in mind when you watch or re-watch Yashahime. Just in case you've never watched InuYasha, or don't remember certain details about the events that happened.

I think that's it but, I'm sure I've missed some stuff.

My biggest problem with it, right now. Is that it only started to develop and really look like a proper sequel in season two.

First season seemed to be like a test. If it goes well, they would keep going with the animation. If it goes bad, they would probably fasten the pace and end everything in 24 episodes.

That's why it seems to be all over the place when it comes to pacing. It had to start fast in order to give accomplish an amount of development that would allow them to end or not everything in 24 episodes.

Even though people in MAL hated a lot the show, it is extremely popular here in Japan (during classes, I often see classmates talking about Yashahime), which made them go for the second season route.

Though, I have no idea if they really want to push further or end this with 48 episodes (both seasons together). Let's not forget that Inuyasha had 193 episodes, that is A LOT to cover the necessary development to all their huge cast of characters.

If they want to go even further and make this a long show, then I would have no problem with the pacing, since right now them seem to be slowing developing things and the story (I'll not talk further into it to avoid spoilers).

Though, if they try to make it slow only to have to rush it again in the end, then it would be mostly meaningless.

People went crazy about Sessrin for no reason. Most of the people were expecting that to happen and we even had a drama CD kinda showing that. I guess people were mostly ranting about the age gap, but well, not that Takahashi ever seemed to care about it. But at least they explained her age.

Other thing that I see people from the west complaining about, is Inuyasha and Kagome being trapped. This is and idea that I like, since it is the only way you can develop the kids without daddy showing up and cleaning everything with his overpowered weapon. Sesshoumaru is stronger than Inuyasha, but Bakusaiga is not even close to be as powerful as Tessaiga, so that was a need in my opinion.

I'm talking too much, but I would say I understand both sides, even though I think people here in MAL are going too far on their hate.

I can see that Yashahime's first season is all over the place. I can also see why it would be a test season. It doesn't have any sources to draw from unlike InuYasha, it had a whole manga series. I'm glad that Yashahime is very popular! I really liked the show (I might change my ratings for it's seasons later).

I feel like the unnecessary craze with the age gap between Sesshomaru & Rin is over the lack of understanding age. While her age was explained, if anyone would just stop & think, they'd know that she would be older (aka not 10 years old, anymore).

It seems like America (I don't know if it's true for all of the west) fails to realize how strong Inuyasha & Kagome actually is. If they weren't trapped there'd be no room for any of the 3 princess to grow. That's writing logic.

Yashahime seems like it'll be a shorter story compared to InuYasha. It might only last a few seasons (maybe 3 - 5 seasons). However, if it lasts longer than that, I'm all for it.

Yashahime's season 1 (ignoring the pacing) seems to have a presentation oddity. It had to explain why the 3 princesses were on a journey, where they came from prior to the journey & where the original cast is currently. I think that's why it didn't become a proper sequel until season 2. The show would've been still stuck with the original cast's adventures, not the new trio's journey.

If people were to explain why they like or dislike something, then others would understand them better, or have a discussion about it. Even, if it any topic becomes a rant. I'll just wait until season 2 is done, before forming my thoughts on it.

Lol, the person who is directing yashahime is the one who didn't watch Inuyasha properly. There are so many inconsistencies and the story is so poorly and badly written that it is unbearable. If you like it then good for you, I gave it a shot, saw the whole first season and some episodes from this one and can't stand it.
