so i’m an anime lesbian and romances aren’t really my thing but i do make an exception for yuri/gl partially for the romance but largely for the relatable aspect as well. basically i’m looking for a realistic sol that’s not just fan service or a like actual gl action that’s not just implied.
so far i’ve seen (anime)
-citrus (just a fan-service yuri with a love story- kinda fetishized and since i’m not that much into the romance aspect it wasn’t really my thing)
-el cazadour de la brujah (watched a while ago but from what i remember the anime felt rushed and the romance was barely implied also a lil loli, i was gonna read the manga but i heard bad things)
-adachi and shimura (started off pretty promising but gradually got weird and kinda fetishy i stoped at around ep 9)
-netsuzo trap (more hentai than yuri but just followed the basic “this is what strait dudes want to see” plot line)
-riddle story of devil (anime had all the aspects i was looking for just felt dull and kinda disengenuine and like decently implied but not stated although these are minor complaints regarding what i’ve experienced from the genre, i would definitely watch something similar)
-rin daughters of mnmosa (uhhh it was a yuri? lol honestly this one low key confused me)
-yurikima(the intent was there… but it like jumped strait into generic “your my true love” without having an actual character to say it, pretty much just mindless zombies with the only download program being “you are a lesbian, now go be a lesbian” they lacked development and personality’s)
i’ve also seen a couple “heavily implied” but not enough to count them
as for manga i’ve read MLEL and the rest of kabi’s books, all the lil kakegurui yuri side stories, and some of citrus +.
basically i’m looking for any setting gl (although an action would be like amazing) preferably anime but manga as well, where the characters actually have personalities and a full story ( made by women for women preferably). idc if it’s a yuri or a shojo ai as long as it’s not male directed fan service. also it would be amazing if it was clearly romantic instead of a “ one girl blushed when they touched shoulders!!!!” peak

This isn't a love story but Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou has Yuri elements that makes it more wlw history than many of the Yuri you have mentioned, but like I said love isn't the focus and if you don't like slow pace slice of life series maybe this will not be enjoyable, if you want to try it I recommend you to watch the first two OVAs

If you’ve seen the Sound! Euphonium series, I loved Liz and the Blue Bird. Worth watching through the series, then that movie. Explores the relationship between two characters who had a bit of a rocky past is season 1 and expands upon it. Never gets too lovey dovey but it’s still fantastic.

+1 for the person that said Kase and the Morning Glories. It’s really good and the plot doesn’t drag at all. Probably the closest to Bloom Into You there is. Believe it’s only an hour long but explores real problems when dating in high school. I also love that the OVA starts with our characters already in a relationship before it starts.

I actually enjoyed Sakura Trick, but I understand why other audiences aren’t too high on it. There are a lot of small things I enjoyed about it, though it’s a little more fan-servicey than any of the others.

Not an anime, but the manga, nettaigyo wa yuki ni kogareru, is on an extremely similar wavelength while still being its own thing.

You won't find many in anime, because they rarely get adapted. Turn your attention to manga.

I personally didn’t like the anime as much as some other romances, especially that non-canon relationship between the side characters. I heard the light novels are about as good as bloom into you or at least close though

I'm a bit strapped for time to answer you fully right now, but check out Hana ni Arashi.

well from a lesbian whose been in lesbian relationships it ended up loosing the gl and defaulted to “besties”. it also was low key kinda creepy and just overall not great representation so that was probably my biggest complaint

If you don't mind, you can look at my plan to read list. just added by someone recommending to me. One more GL/Yuri genre is not much adapted to anime should look for manga or LN

I mean... Adachi to Shimamura is actually really great. I understand that the anime might be disappointing to some, a valid point, however the light novel it is adapted from is WAY better in my opinion. It's very worth reading. However, I don't see your point about it being "kinda fetishy"?? There's some slight thigh shots I guess, I can get that. But aside from that I think everything shown is pretty darn normal? Anyway read the light novel because I don't see a single damn person who read it say things like this about it.

As for other series I recommend.. Hmm. Try the Yagate Kimi ni Naru spin-off light novel “Saeki Sayaka ni Tsuite“. I have a bit of a controversial opinion - I think that the spin-off is better than the main series by just a bit.

For anime - try the OVA Asagao to Kase-san. It's pretty good as well, but once again I think the manga is better.

And maybe try Flip Flappers? It's a really great show in my opinion. Quite trippy, sci-fi kinda show. The main plot isn't the two girls' relationship but it is a major plot point and they are very clearly in love.

To be honest there really is a lack of good yuri anime, so here's some manga recs:

Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau - this one is pretty similar to Yagakimi imo. We have the pink-haired younger girl who's unsure about her feelings and the pining black-haired senpai in that manga, as well. It's cute!

Hana ni Arashi - really nice one with a cute, clean art style. Sort of a slice of life tbh.

Ano Ko ni Kiss to Shirayuri wo - this one is okay. There's the two main characters which take up about 40% of the plot, and then there's the rest of the cast which take up about 60%.

After Hours - nice series about adult women in love. Unfortunately a disappointing ending but overall not bad.

its been a while since the last time I watched/read yuri anime/manga, but
I'm fairly certain its quite difficult to find any decent yuri in manga/anime...

thats why Ive recently changed into reading yuri novel XD there are some yuri novels that are quite memorable to me,
for instances

The System Sent Me an Object [End of the World], the MC is pragmatic and quite smart, she may not likeable character for some people but I personally like her a lot. As the title suggests, there will be some dark moments...that said, the MC and the FL interactions always feel quite wholesome

Matrilocal Marriage, despite the fact it takes 200+ chapters XD for the MC and the FL (her legal waifu) to have a proper kiss as waifu X waifu, it still doesnt reduce its wholesomeness at all
