Why are all characters so shallow?

Two points I wanna make

1 - A lot of people saying the author is allowed to make boring characters because he set the bar for Komi making 100 friends, which would make it difficult for having actually decent characters. The thing is, if the author did set the bar this high, that's because he was aiming on making bad characters on purpose in the first place. He knew manga/anime fans love lazy written characters and just went ahead and did a story focused on them.

2 - I do Agree with the initial statement of MangoSamurai, but his example was the worst he could come up with. There are so many generic/bad comedy anime out there and he literaly choose the one who has really creative/funny jokes with compelling well written characters. Kaguya-sama is one of the few examples where it deserve all the praise it gets (if anything Kaguya is a bit underrated), and the idea that it's on the same level of Komi-san is objectively false.
