DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- I know reading discards is the bread and butter of mahjong manga, but I really hope people don't expect this to be a prerequisite to playing well. Maybe thinking like this is really hopeful at a 10-dan level, but from what I read from other pros, it's much more important to read discards defensively, and even then only rely on that information after you have exhausted every other option to play defensively. It's just really unreliable, because it also depends on the thought process of the other person and involves a mindgame. |
