As my experience of reading manga and watching anime has shown, authors, including mangaka, really like to make fun of the viewer and check him for attentiveness.
The "notice of discontinuation" you noticed only indicates the end of the season. Moreover, I would even venture to suggest that episode 13 ends with a song from OP for a reason. Most likely, this is the groundwork for the second season.
At least the Tobikichi Usahara was not revealed to us.

The fact that the characters in the anime do not change is wrong. They have already started to change, and in the manga this process continues.
I will hope that I am not mistaken.
