| Well, I'm here. I can't believe I managed to go the full 79 chapters in only two months and I'm even more surprised by how much this manga has managed to grow on me in between then. Even if I think some of the story details are a little perverted and uncomfortable at certain points (like whatever the fuck is going on with the marital customs in Hyperborea), there's a level of humanity and believability to the characters that keeps drawing me back. Now that I've caught up at the exact climax of the story, I'm a little worried about where things will go from here. The whole scouting/plotting dynamic that was present in the first 20 or so chapters was fun at first, though now that the realisation has dawned on me that it took a further 60 for that story element to progress in any meaningful way, the more things start to feel like a hollow victory to me. We're also way too late into the story to be introducing the primary antagonist lol. All my forecasts show that this will probably culminate into a rushed conclusion :/ |
