| The OVA and anime were original stories based off huke's character Black Rock Shooter. It's not "based" off anything but that original character design, but BRS's first story was the eponymous song created by ryo of supercell featuring Hatsune Miku. There's never really been a definitive version of the character; the OVA and anime are similar but not actually connected, the PSP game is completely different, and there are manga for the OVA and game. Likely, this will be a completely different story too since the original BRS was pretty divisive and there's not really much to go from there. It's been a long time since the character's seen the spotlight though, so I'm excited to see what's changed. It's really impossible to talk about Black Rock Shooter without talking about the man behind it, so if you like BRS check out huke's gorgeous art because he's drawn a lot of her and and the other characters. Also check out the original Steins;Gate visual novel, he did the art for the game and brought the world to life. Now he's really into Vtubers (he designed Takanashi Kiara of Hololive EN) and designs characters for plastic model kits. |
| I hope it's more like the OVA. I loved the struggle towards the end, it had a lot of emotion behind it. But looking at Little witch academia, these kind of projects usually get watered down when they switch to a longer format. |

| Considering Rock has an entirely new outfit, hairstyle and even the Black Trike appears to be redesigned, I would not be surprised to see an entirely new storyline. It'd unlikely to be Innocent Soul or any of the 3 Games, that's for sure, and a second remake of the Anime seems excessive, so I'm doubly convinced. So, most likely, yes, new characters, as every new version has a mostly new cast. |
