Is the anime skipping some background plot?

Just started watching it. The synopsis on MAL talks about the MC going from a world with science (presumably ours) to a world that's similar but has magic. However I'm into episode 3 now and there hasn't been anything to indicate that happened. And there was some necklace that the MC thought about in the first episode but not much elaboration on it besides someone gave it to him.

Just go read the Manwha it’s a lot better than the anime, it’s called Versatile Mage.

Yes!
Read the Versatile Mage manhwa. Although it too can be confusing here and there. Then after you catch up with releases, you can watch anime to reminiscent about past which you already forgotten because story’s always going forward relentlessly.
At least that’s my opinion 😋

I read manhua and watched all existing seasons of anime ; I don’t think there is big difference between the two ; the pacing is really bad in both but it’s still very enjoyable… Maybe one important aspect is the art, the design of the monsters is generally much more elaborated in the manhua ;)
That being said, there is room for another 10 seasons before the anime catches up with the manhua haha
