Allright, so I just finished A lull in the sea, and that was really really entertaining. However, was I the only one that was absolutely crushed that Miuna didn't end up with Hikari in the end?

While watching, I thought Miuna had a really good chance as I noticed she was the main focus in the second op (although i got a bit worried when the visuals changed a bit once Manaka woke up), and that she also had the most favorites on MAL. And especially, in the final episode, when Hikari was trying to save Miuna and realized that it was Miuna who stayed with him the entire time and not Manaka, I seriously thought it was gonna happen .... but it didn't.

Like, Manaka liking Hikari was kind of random for me, as Manaka was always seen crushing on Tsugumu, and all of a sudden at the end, she was like "psych, no." Plus, Hikari had the best interactions with Miuna by far, as whenever he's with Manaka he's worried about something, and whenever he's with Chisaki, things are awkward as hell. But with Miuna, it was always pretty chill and just normal.

Anyways, that was a massive rip for Miuna, as she was also the only girl that didn't get paired in the end, even though she was best girl (in my eyes ofc)

Edit: and I just realized, but we never got to see Hikari respond to Miuna's feelings after he saved her

I wanted miuna to be with hikari, but it would've been kinda weird considering they are technically related.

I feel like Miuna is good in showing that your first love/childhood crush/etc isn't always the person you end up with in the end. There's that other boy who mentioned he liked her that she could possibly start a relationship with, so it also shows that not all hope is lost after losing your first love.

Also yeah them being inlaws is kinda weird as well

She ends up with no one. However, there was this random classmate that confesses to her in the middle of the show, and they show his presence again in the final episode, suggesting that he could potentially have a chance with her. The thing is, a random character is gonna stay a random character in our eyes

Frankly, this anime manipulated my feelings and thoughts in an unnatural way. The beginning is completely different from the end. And the events in it are unexpected and unconventional. The diversity of the characters is something special, the writer has given each character their due. And of course the ending is great and I think it's satisfying

They aren't related by blood. They are related by marriage. Hikari's sister is Miuna's step-mom, so Hikari is Miuna's step-uncle.
