I was just wondering if there was a chance that Monogatari Off Season (Orokamonogatari, Wazamonogatari, Nademonogatari, Musubimonogatari) would ever get an anime?

It’s possible, since shaft seems very loyal to nisio isin’s work. Since zoku was in 2019, there’s still a good chance that they’re still animating it.

i know that shaft said years ago that they would animate everything monogatari, so i hope they keep true to that, and i reckon if they are working on it then 2020 has slowed them down a bit with that so we need to be patient for now.

hopefully, we get something sooner or later, since it doesn't seem to be any plan to continue translating the books anytime soon as well. So sooner or later there is gonna have to be a way to actually consume off-season content without having to learn fucking Japanese.

We're in the middle of the year 2021 already, and Zoku Owari was released in 2018. Chances are a bit slim. Also, when SHAFT announced that they will animate all Monogatari novels, it was 9 years ago (3 years before Off Season). IMO, I think they meant to animate all the present Monogatari novels during that time. The present novels during 2012 were: First, Second, and Final seasons (all of which were already animated). I also heard a rumour that some (or probably most) animators that worked with Monogatari left the studio.

But if ever SHAFT announces an Off Season (or even Monster Season) anime adaptations, I would be extremely happy since Monogatari is my #1 favourite anime.

I mean the final novel of Monster season "Shinomonogatari" had finished on August 2021, so on 2022 at the same time they may announce the project for two seasons.....

Back in 2019 a small time after Zoku Owarimonogatari got released, the official Shaft twitter account tweeted that Off Season was in production. The reason we still havent gotten a real official announcement is probably because Off Season will be the hardest source material to animate. You could say that of the previous mono series as well and Shaft did it perfectly, but if you read the LN you would understand its near impossible to animate. And some of Shaft's best employers have left in recent years. So my theory is that we will have to wait a couple more years before getting an official announcement. My guess is an announcement in 2025 and a release somewhere in 2026 (but this is just pure speculation).

I'm shocked that it's been almost 4 years with no continuation of the anime yet.
At this rate, I think I may resume my reading of the first novels and catch up to the latest.
