idk if this was mentioned here before, but this SAO story arc and what follows next in the story is literally a prequel for Reki's other story, Accel World(much better than SAO), it has an anime adaptation already, go watch it, it's great, and you'll understand everything new introduced here from the start

Yea, try finding something actually worse than SAO.

But jokes aside. I always considered first half of Alicization as an actually really good.
Incarnation was pretty simple to explain as "I want it to happen and it will" and in the end Kirito-kun becomes a literal god by defeating Admin and "keeping what he kills".
Still, that's very convinient writing.

the reason I mentioned that it's better than SAO is because it being written by Reki and some people think everything he writes has all the downfalls of SAO, but no, it's incredibly surprising how the obvious plot holes and character tropes that plague SAO are not present in AW at all, instead any negative thing you can criticize about it are more subtler regular anime medium weaknesses, in fact the biggest criticism against it that I see online is that the main character is short and fat... which.... that depends on the viewer how they take it

but yeah the Incarnation System, Acceleration, Memories separated from the body all that is explained in depth in AW

in AW the Incarnation System is not just a cheap plot device, it's more of a Matrix style You are Neo where everybody can be Neo and it's down to who masters it the best so it's just another form of skill level more than God power one guy is the best

The main powers comes in alicization is from willpower kirito is able to transform into his SAO Avatar because of his imagination and main powers come from incarnation because of his willpower
