How strong was Chief?

We followed him for a bit and it makes me wonder how well would he do against some of season 1 boxers.

On one hand he was said to be way too strong for underground fights and is stronger then drug addicted Joe who still kicked ass of any local fighter he encountered. On the other hand the tournament he won seem to be more of a regional and he was quite old.

Now it is difficult to know, if you saw the last episode, but it must be said that he is an older man, and surely he is not in his best time.

Maybe in his prime he was a top tier fighter
But this version of chief barely won the tournament
He isn't that quick and relied heavily on body shots and waiting for "openings" rather than being an active attacker or relying on quickness
imo there must've been a large amount of fighters who would outmaneuver or even overpower him in the pro scene

@Akshat_ Before the Chief vs NOMAD / JOE match, they mentioned that he was formerly a professional, so I guess before Carlo's death he was pretty good,But after the incident, I sense that he went down to clandestine fights. (I don't think anything happens to say spoilers for the last chapter, right?)

Chief was old so it’s hard to say. In his prime he could’ve been top tier, but from what we witnessed in the anime, I’d say he wasn’t all that strong.

I reckon he’s roughly on aragaki’s level, maybe just about clinching a win against him cos of his disability. But then again, this is just speculation, I could be totally wrong.

I may be mistaken but doesn't chief tell Joe that it was just a lie that sells well when Joe confronted him asking if a former pro wasn't ashamed of running rigged fights?

It depends on how you think about it, Chief was at the level of the current Joe, but here come several factors, and that is that Joe in that fight was not in the best condition, but you have to remember that the last thing Joe did was not Yuri's fight, but it is shown in this new season that several fights have spoken after the big tournament.The only person with the ability to answer this question would be the creator of Megalo Box. Since he is the only one who knows what happened in all these years between the first and second seasons to, in addition to Chief's power scale.
