I'm watching episode 8 right now and can't stop thinking this, this shows gives me many MANY American vibes (along with a lot of boredom, but well).

I came to check out the info here on animelist but it looks like a completely Japanese production. Do you confirm this? For real no western producer was involved in this? It seems so strange from what I'm seeing.

one animator who worked on the show is canadian though. i only know this because he has a neat youtube

They probably based some of the stuff in the show on some American films or something like that

Just watch anime instead of looking at forums
