| Pretty funny you made this post because earlier someone made about the same topic but they were mad at Rio they even self inserted themselves in situations were he had to choose to kill Rio or that one bitch from Shield Hero everyone hates and he said he'd kill Rio I've always found it weird when people fetishize killing a fictional characters |

It's in her face, her character design, her reactions if she spots anything that could ruin her plans. I spotted this from the first episode and the following episodes only confirm those suspicions. Everything she does only has hér pleasures, hér entertainment in mind, without any regard for people's feelings and she will go fár to reach her goal. The "she is honest" bit in OP's first post almost had me spit out my coffee..... Frankly, I think it runs in the family, which isn't uncommon, many characteristics of Rio fit Ryou as well. You're welcome.... I'm on phone so I dunno how to make the quote shorter. I have questions: 1) Do you have siblings? It's natural for siblings to aid each other, you know. So it's normal for Rio to root for her brother. 2) Have you not have had friends who jokingly says "I'm doing it for fun" but is actually looking out for you? There're so many friends like that. (And it's a veeeeeery usual anime trope). She does say it's for her own amusement, but those were just her words. You can see in her actions that she's pretty much an observer and she knows everyone well, so she knows where to place herself. 3) The thing with the address was a bit of a red alert. But, she knows her brother won't do anything to Ichika. BECAUSE THAT'S HOW IT WORKS WHEN YOU KNOW AND UNDERSTAND PEOPLE. 3) That thing with Kai? I didn't even see it as a threat. It was more like a warning to be careful if Tamaru does pursue Ichika because she knows her brother well to be over the top. I didn't feel any indication of threat, what with the animation and the tone. 4) SHE CALLED RYOU THE WORST FOR ENJOYING ICHIKA'S ANNOYED REACTIONS. Meaning she DOES care for Ichika! She's Ryo's sister, so she's willing to help, but she obviously has her boundaries. 5) DID YOU SEE THAT ENDING FOR THE LATEST EPISODE? Ichika knows Rio as well and is thankful for what she does. They all know each other very well that's why they act like that. 6) i think people are misunderstanding that her aiding her brother is NOT equal to her pushing Ichika to like Ryo. No no no no that's not how it workkkkssss. She's just making a way for Ryo. She wasn't even aware about how "close" they are. But if Ichika is adamant and begs Rio to stop Ryo, I feel like she would. But she noticed how Ichika is slowly accepting of Ryo, so there's no harm done. Don't get me wrong. I honestly ship Ichika with Tamaru. It's honestly Ryo who's a predator (but no hate on Ryo because the show is funny, it adds to the story). But to call Rio a sociopath is too much. She's honestly a tame character and wingman. She's not even pushing Ichika to like Ryo. She's just helping Ryo to court Ichika. She only gives info on Ichika when asked, because there's no reason for her not to. Especially since it's her brother. Like, do you get what I mean???? There's a wrong focus on Rio here that people aren't trying to understand. AND I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN A LOT OF COMMENTS ABOUT RYO, POINTING HOW HUGE THEIR AGE GAP IS OR HOW PUSHY HE IS. THE BLAME IS ON RIO. WHY?!!! Do you even get her situation?? She's the sister so she wants to root for Ryo, but at the same time Ichika is her best friend so she doesn't push. |
| @luxicity Though I said I wouldn't reply here after my elaborate answer in the "Delete Rio please" thread,.. just a short reply to what I didn't cover there. Yes,... I have a brother. And if he's about to do something stupid, illegal or morally wrong, I will tell him straight to his face, actually have on occasion. I'd expect him to do the same. I would nót aid and abet in said behaviour. If he wants to get in contact with someone I know he will let me know but will not expect me to give him contact information without their consent, nor would I ever give anyone hís contact information without asking him if he's OK with that. And neither would he give out my contact info without mý consent. I would also not dream about inserting myself in his romantic pursuits by meddling with his love interests. If he asks my advise or opinion I will give it to him straight, I would not go along in any sort of manipulation if he asked me though (he wouldn't in the first place). All of the above also extends to my friends. It's a matter of respect for people's privacy and leaving them to make their own choices, perhaps giving them advise and give it to them straight. Rio shows none of that. But, she knows her brother won't do anything to Ichika. She knew exactly what he would do, she also knew Ichika wouldn't like it,.. she knows a lot about how people work and uses that to er advantage to manipulate them for her entertainment. I have dealt with people like Rio, I also worked with people who fell victim to her kind of manipulation, I worked with people who were victims of people like Ryou and perps like him. Believe me, if you run into people like them... you'd do best to run the other way, you'll be having a bad time if you don't. I'm leaving this with another small hint as to how much Rio actually cares about Ichika... She shows no real interest in her when they are in the coffeehouse, is only keeping herself amused on her phone without giving Ichika any real attention the way true friends would....  Untíl Ichika mentions she wants to buy Ryou a Christmas gift...! Only thén does she light up, give Ichika her undevided attention,.... because this fits in with the game she plays with them... In and of itself it may not look like much but if you add up all the little signs.... As I said, this is at the time the most interesting and fascinating part of the series, it seems to indicate the producers of the anime are actually getting some parts of the series right,... even though not everybody sees it. If only they didn't screw it up by passing all of the disturbing parts of the show off as "comedy", which ruins it for me. |
