That's just a hc that got blown up and everyone started to believe it, imo the movies more about consumerism and capitalism

It’s not real I don’t think. The reason why this anime was so renowned was because the script was being written when it was being animated. That is why the anime was so random was because they did the script on the fly.

The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

It can be freely interpreted as such, since it’s art after all.

I interpret it as coming of age, entering the adult world of working and harsh realities, and perhaps even slavery.

I know for a fact that no face was a demon often known for being alone, so he was highly impressionable, by eating someone he could get their personality traits. That’s why he was taken to Chihiro. She was sweet and kind and so he wanted to be like her. I HIGHLY doubt it was a metaphor to the Japanese sex industry. It was more about friendship and not taking family for granted as well as accepting tho use for who they are.
