| Crunchyroll released an article on Obey Me recently - Devilish Dating Game "Obey Me!" Gets Summer 2021 TV Anime This has attracted lots of people who are unfamiliar with the game and brothers. I've been seeing lots of comments on Twitter of individuals claiming that Obey Me is BL/shounen ai/yaoi which is in turn leading others to agree with this false information. How do you think this will ultimately affect reception of the anime? How will this shift our existing fanbase...? |
| Honestly I don't really get why people would be getting that sort of impression, especially as a result of that article, given the fact that it states multiple times that it's first and foremost an otome game and dating sim. I haven't seen any of this attention myself, but I doubt it'll have too much of an impact. Obey Me's fanbase is already fairly large and has only been growing exponentially since its release; in the long run, a few people making some unsound accusations that'll ultimately be disproved when the anime comes out shouldn't be much of an issue. It's not something to get worked up about at least, since the threat at hand is just a bunch of people choosing to be oblivious and ignorant. |

| Ahhh Twitter, a cesspit of people that don't read and judge waaaaaay too harshly on the smallest things. Yeah I have no idea how people can see the poster, see the DATING APP in big capital letters and reach that conclusion. I'm sure with the anime we'll get some drama in the fandom as it grows even bigger. |

People will try to make drama out of anything, it seems. Such a pity, I can still remember how things were so peaceful less than a year ago in the fandom. Yet, toxic people are inevitable, especially considering OM's massive growth in such a short timespan. You know I think I vaguely recall what drama you might be on about there, there was a demoncest shipper on twitter awhile ago causing biiiiig drama. I personally don't like the whole demoncest thing, even though they're not related by blood they still call eachother brothers so....yeahhhh. But whatever floats their goat. I'll just look the other way and not get involved, noone can stop me enjoying the bois. It's the VA's I'm a little nervous for honestly, they're very nice people and I remember the hate Gabi's VA got in AOT just recently because of their character. Oh yeah with growth like this in a fandom I'm expecting it, luckily I don't really use social media much though. The most I'll do is read, talk in the discussion threads on here and maybe reddit. |

| I can see why those character designs would give that impression. This anime is 100% not for me though. |
