Is Obey Me a "romance" anime?

Do you think the anime will be considered a romance?

So... here's the thing. Obey Me is based on a dating simulation game, but whether the anime is actually considered romance or not sort of remains fuzzy. Some sites have labeled Obey Me as romance and some have not. In my opinion, I don't think this will be a romance anime. It doesn't feel like it will be an overtly romantic one at least.

Also, side remark, but I've seen way too many comments from some non-players thinking Obey Me is "gay" or another Yarichin B Club. I'm not even going to get into that because we all know that the last thing the brothers want to do is to romance each other. They literally can't stand each other (LOL.)

What's your opinion on Obey Me's genre?

One thing I have noticed about otome game anime adaptions, the romance tag always gets blurred as the story advances (which is completely normal ngl, considering diff routes, chars and stuff) and ends up with an open ending. From this point of view I don't think there will be romance. And in this regard, if they keep the MC like in the short special I don't think it would be possible. However hints, and cute moments with the MC yes, I can see these animated.

But for the love of God, even if there is no romance, please please CPA, don't butcher it like Ikemen Sengoku.

According to the game devs, the anime adaption will be focused on the daily lives of the demon brothers, so I guess it's more like slice of life than romance. Also, devs want the MC to be whatever you imagine (gender, background, etc etc), so I doubt there will be specified MC, probably like a sheep in the short video lol

I think it’ll be more of a comedy anime, it’ll be hard to take sheep MC seriously

I'm hoping it's going to be a comedy slice of life and some websites just mislabeled the romance tag. The description is too ambiguous, every day life could also include romance but hopefully not. I would love to have some cute moments with sheep MC but not too focused on that i hope

Can't wait to watch Asmodeus make moves on a sheep LOL and Mammon picking MC up and running away with them. I'm personally relieved it's not a romance honestly, I like the way OM has MC as something everyone can insert their OCS/selves as regardless of gender/pronouns etc.

As far as we know, the anime will be about the brother's daily life, will it include MC or not we don't quite know yet. There is still no trailer after all so we can only speculate. I kinda hope not though because i feel like it would be hilarious to see them flirt with a fing sheep

Almost positive the only romance will be comedic. Considering even the game itself doesn’t abide by the usual otome rules and have you pick a route, rather having it have casual romance moments with nothing sticking, the anime will probably be the same. So it’ll most likely be comedic slice of life with some fluffy moments with them and MC.

As for the yaoi comment, definitely not unless you consider Asmo with...anybody. And also the twins, but that’s just super closeness.

Since MC-chan will be a sheep, it's difficult to imagine romance in the coming anime... It'll supposed to focus on the brothers' adventures and everyday life more, I guess.
Also, despite the game itself being an otome, MC can avoid most of the romantic situations by choosing an appropriate line =)))
Well, the bros don't really "hate" each other, I'd tag their relationship as "difficult". However, Asmo is quite the case, if you get what I mean =)))
