I haven't yet fully read the manga I'm about 6 chapters in, which I read about 2 years ago.

So I absolutely loved Tokyo ghoul when I first watched it, when it came out. I rewatched season 1 and 2 a few times, I Loved season 1, but season 2 left much to be desired, I was confused at some points to be quite honest. And to be completely transparent, it took me 3 rewatches to actually manage to finish s2. When I finally finished it, I started season 3 and I just couldn't. I honestly tried to give it a good shot and 2 episodes in, I completely abandoned it.

My question is, is it worth forcing myself to watch season 3?

Is it worth it to read the manga? I don't tend to read manga I haven't bought because I struggle to get involved in reading when it's on my phone (hence why I dropped reading it years ago). Yet I don't want to buy the manga series, just to be disappointed.

Definitely read the Manga. Season 2 didn't follow the Manga's story and decided to go on its own route while season 3 wasn't a proper adaptation.

I enjoyed the anime but I needed something’s explained to I read the manga....I suggest either reading or watching because for me I feel like the anime is fine on it’s own but after you read the manga it ruins it bcuz things just don’t match up between manga and anime

Definitely read the manga. After watching season 2 and 3 I felt like a lot was missing. So I went back and read the manga and boy oh boy was it worth it. The anime doesn't do it justice at all. So I'd say definitely check it out.

Try to watch it. It is boring but it's only 4 hours. Season 4 is not that bad like season 3. I mean I watched whole sword art online season 2 just bc I didn't want to drop it.

I get what you mean, I did exactly the same, it wasn't worth it at all, Sao peaked at s1.

I hate dropping anime, especially if I'm tracking it, which is why I don't track it until I've watched at least 2 episodes now. But I honestly had to drop it, I was just utterly bored and dissapointed, and this is coming from someone who struggled through the entire s1 of fairytale, just to get it off of my watching.

From what you've said the season doesn't get any better, so I think I'll read the manga from the other comments I've seen. Thanks though

Personally read the manga after the first part of Tokyo Ghoul Re: because the second part was so rushed and it felt more of a manga recap then anything else. The first part wasn’t that horrible but the second part was a dumpster fire.

The Manga is one of my favorite reads. It’s definitely worth reading and season 3 & 4 of the anime are just fan adaptations anyways so you should just read it.

If you want to finish the series, then yes. But I can see why :re isn't as well regarded as the first two seasons.

Imo you should first read the manga of Tokyo Ghoul since the anime took a completly different story and doesn't have the same ending since the 2nd season was supposed to have an anime original ending. The manga has a lot of details that explain a lot of doubts that you may have about some characters or situations (happened to me) and is a lot darker in tone.

When you finish it you should probably keep reading the manga or :re since it also was poorly adapted

I think 3th season was boring but good. I like the manga but the anime is not that bad. 4th season was bullshit but 1-3 were good.
