Initial D scene is pure fanfic

The manga source material (Ch 26 pg.23) did not have any drift scenes. This fanfic totally broke immersion and theme of yuru camp.

It's impossible to drift in that box car without extensive modifications. The scene showed the car going airborne, drifting, power sliding, while the kids show no fear for their lives whatsoever. Why the hell is sensei suddenly a pro drift racer?

If you're going to do a proper drift scenes, at least have the speedometer at 60km/h and show some counter-steering, and not dragon ball z type of animation. I get that the eurobeat music is an initial D homage, but it's trash (fight me).

It's all fun until you binge-rewatch it and go wtf is wrong with this scene? it doesn't fit in Kinda like how purple hair kamikaze scene in star wars TLJ was fun until you think about it.

The scene was hilarious. Also, with the right conditions (recent snow/icing) you could definitely get that car to drift going 20mph uphill, lol.

its actually slower. its 20 kph. Japan didnt use miles so actually super slow

It's just a scene made for fun, it shouldn't be taken seriously (as others said it should have been obvious from the speed, 20kph is approximately 12mph). If they do this kind of cartoony thing constantly, it will really ruin the experience, but 1 or 2 times over an entire season, I don't see any problem. Just ignore it, after all it didn't really happen, in the same way that all the cute deformed faces don't happen in the anime universe, they are just metaphors for us viewers to get some extra emotions.

I really have to wonder why people miss the point of some ironic-comedic scene but no one is talking about how many slapstick scenes Rin got in episode 2 - how many? Too many! At least imo - I really hope they slow down again because while it still feels like a feel-good anime, it loses some of it's relaxing and calming nature.
