Hey guys. I'm new to the club and, while I love the genre, I'm no connoisseur so I need someone to riddle me this: Why are all-girls christian schools a recurring setting in yuri? And what's with the Virgin Mary watching over all these pure ladies? Is there a deep meaning behind it all or what?

I need answers.

I don't believe they go to Catholic Schools. School is always a recurring theme but I don't think that they are at a catholic school per se. But if I had to give you an answer, I'd say that it's likely a link to how society frowns on lesbians. It's always a recurring theme in yuri anime that the girls know what they're doing geos against the societal norm and I think the Catholic School only serves as a reminder to the audience.
